It's a misstatement. God as he's commonly known was created in the image of man. Imbued with his wrath, sense of vengeance, appreciation for obedience, fear of judgment and worth, and complete with the desire to separate "them" from "us."
The Universe is such that we can only begin to ponder its complexities. Is it not enough to be embraced by the Life Force itself, the same current that has flowed through all of time and has never flowed wrong? Or do we need an old white guy in a robe?
