Three angels (messengers) Revelation 14

6 Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—to every nation, tribe, language and people. 7 He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.”

8 A second angel followed and said, “‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great,’[a] which made all the nations drink the maddening wine of her adulteries.”

9 A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, 10 they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.” 12 This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus.

13 Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.”

“Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.”

Harvesting the Earth and Trampling the Winepress
14 I looked, and there before me was a white cloud, and seated on the cloud was one like a son of man with a crown of gold on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand. 15 Then another angel came out of the temple and called in a loud voice to him who was sitting on the cloud, “Take your sickle and reap, because the time to reap has come, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” 16 So he who was seated on the cloud swung his sickle over the earth, and the earth was harvested.

17 Another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp sickle. 18 Still another angel, who had charge of the fire, came from the altar and called in a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, “Take your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of grapes from the earth’s vine, because its grapes are ripe.” 19 The angel swung his sickle on the earth, gathered its grapes and threw them into the great winepress of God’s wrath. 20 They were trampled in the winepress outside the city, and blood flowed out of the press, rising as high as the horses’ bridles for a distance of 1,600 stadia.

I have reservations in saying this, but surely the Catholic Church has been proved right in seeking to restrict the actual text of the Bible from the laity.

What that Church feared has come to pass. With the printing press and mass literacy we now have over 2000 variant sects, many claiming to be the "true" Christians.

The Living Word has been put into the hands of the what some have called the triumphant herdmind.

Here is the nuanced approach to scripture of the Catholic Church:-

To search out the intention of the sacred writers, attention should be given, among other things, to "literary forms." For truth is set forth and expressed differently in texts which are variously historical, prophetic, poetic, or of other forms of discourse. The interpreter must investigate what meaning the sacred writer intended to express and actually expressed in particular circumstances by using contemporary literary forms in accordance with the situation of his own time and culture. For the correct understanding of what the sacred author wanted to assert, due attention must be paid to the customary and characteristic styles of feeling, speaking and narrating which prevailed at the time of the sacred writer, and to the patterns men normally employed at that period in their everyday dealings with one another. (Dei Verbum, III, 12, 2)

Applying such to the text would have protected us from the sort of nonsense being proclaimed here by the self appointed guardians of Truth.

Dear, Instead of reading catholic priests writings read God's word.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

Revelation 14 above is God's word. All I did was post it. You say it is nonsense? So you believe the Bible is nonsense, and you say you believe in Jesus? Jesus said in Matthew 24 that "many will come in my name deceiving many" So please be careful that you are believing in the Biblical Jesus and not the Jesus in your imagination. Jesus said "Before Abraham, I AM" Jesus is The Lord of all. And the creature of the universe John 1.

@Carazaa Hi, instead of simply living in the presumption of being "of the truth" try to absorb what was quoted concerning the Catholic approach to scripture. Thus seeing that when Timothy wrote the words "all scripture" would not have meant what you presume it to mean. The New Testament as such simply did not exist when Timothy was written (and, by the way, most authorative scholars think it was not written by Paul as is claimed within it)

But, nevermind. What is the point? Go back to sleep.

@Carazaa No, I have said that yourinterpretations of it, your application of it, your understanding of it is basically nonsense given the full width, depth and breath of the Christian Faith, which proclaims the Universal Christ.

Fortunately now your own insular creed is becoming ever more a fringe element of the Faith.

You may continue to presume to be "of the sole truth" yet such is self-justification, and can in fact be traced back to a salvation of "works".

Hopefully at some point the full implications and reality of Grace will penetrate your mind/heart and you will.leave Jesusainity behind and join the true Faith, Christianity.

All the best. I will not respond again to anything you post.

@SW-User I quoted it. You take offense to God's word!!

@SW-User
🙂 Please be very careful that you believe in the right Jesus! Please be careful...

Jesus answered:[c=BF0000] “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.

9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."[/c]

I just don't buy it.
Carazaa · F
@SW-User Be careful and read your Bible! I believe we are in the tribulation now, so be careful of what you say because God will judge every word!
originnone · 61-69, M
@Carazaa ah....a pre-tribulation rapture type, eh?
Carazaa · F
@originnone I just told you that I believe we are in the tribulation now, so obviously I haven't raptured. No I am a post tribulation believer. According to The Lord Jesus, Jesus says in Matthew 24 he will come after the tribulation. The dead in Christ will rise first THEN we who are alive will meet Jesus in the air!

For those without time to read the entire post, here is a brief precis:-

the beast.... the wine of God’s fury...... the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented......the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever.....There will be no rest.......the great winepress of God’s wrath and blood flowed out of the press, rising as high as the horses’ bridles for a distance of 1,600 stadia.

This from the God of the Old Testament, who we are told therein is good, "for his mercy endureth for ever.....whose mercy is everlasting" (Psalm 136)

Did someone mention "Good News"? What is actually "good" in this monstrous nonsense that some are saying "Amen" to?
Carazaa · F
@SW-User

We are hateful sinners, but Jesus who is God in the flesh came to save us.
Jesus stepped out of heaven and came to visit us as a poor baby where there was no room in the Inn.

He was tortured and died to take our sins on his shoulders so we have no punishment for our sins. He had not sinned at all. He raised Lazarus from the dead after 4 days, he healed the lame man. He said that he alone can forgive sin.

He rose from the dead and appeared in front of 500 people who many died for witnessing that he rose and went up in a cloud. He said I am coming again to judge the living and the dead!

He says [c=BF0000]"Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest." [/c]
[c=BF0000]
"I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but through me" [/c]

Hallelujah what a Savior, Hallelujah what an amazing God we have.

He says [c=BF0000]"How can you escape if you neglect such a great Salvation" [/c]

@SW-User Most of revelation is actually about the end of the Roman Empire. This is why people need to study history and other things along with the Bible.
Carazaa · F
@JimboSaturn Yes it is important to know history, they didn't have internet or shortwave radio reaching the entire world with the gospel until about 40 years ago, definitely not during the Roman Empire.
Revelation is best understood as a symbolic description of the political situation of the time, written in code to avoid government persecution, and not a "prophecy" of future events. No less an authority than Martin Luther thought that it shouldn't be part of the Bible at all. It's taken far too seriously than what it warrants.

From the flyleaf of D.L. Moody's Bible:
The Old Testament points to the cross.
The Gospels tell the story of the cross.
The Epistles point to the throne.
Revelation tells the story of the throne.
Placing what amounts to a pamphlet as having equal significance to the entirety of the Old Testament is ludicrous, and amounts to what Nietzsche called "pulling the Old Testament out from under the feet of the Jews" by making it nothing more than an extended preface to the New Testament.
Carazaa · F
@LeopoldBloom The Book of Revelation says the same as Matthew 24. It is the same meaning of the end, Jesus words. The gospel will go out to the whole world and then the end. There are no contradictions.
@Carazaa I didn't say there was a contradiction. I'm sure whichever person wrote the later book was aware of the first one.

Sadly, this sort of nonsense, and those who proclaim it, have driven more people from Christ than the works of all atheists combined.

😒
Carazaa · F
@SW-User Christ is coming through the clouds to judge the living and the dead in our generation. How do I know? Because we are in the 14th chapter of The book of Revelation NOW. Please read your Bible every day and you will not speak so ignorantly!
SW-User
@Carazaa Please save it for the ever smaller group who still subscribe to such nonsense.

I will not waste any more time on this.
Carazaa · F
@SW-User I quoted the Bible, do you not believe it is God's word? Why do you say it is nonsense?

i must be deaf and blind...what day\hour did they proclaim their message??
Carazaa · F
@lpthehermit The Bible does not say what day, nor what hour. But if you read the Bible passage above then you know that Jesus said that the gospel will go out to every nation and then the end. The gospel is reaching every nation now for the first time. North Korea have had 2 missionaries in prison recently even so that country too have been reached..

Whew! Is there a sequel planned?

Unless we are living the Word as God wants us to, quoting it means nothing. It is about our own personal and true relationship with The Almighty Himself.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@Carazaa Yeah yeah
Like I said if you are not living the Word then what you say on this site means absolutely...nothing. 🙂
Carazaa · F
@Zonuss I am living the word! My whole life has been dedicated to serving Jesus!
Carazaa · F
@Carazaa

You tell me to walk the walk. First of all, I believe I don't go to heaven because of my work. I will go to heaven because Jesus died for my sins. It is Jesus work not mine that counts!

However, I try to be pleasing to him.

Today I am working and serving and helping, like I do everyday. I changed professions 30 years ago to help the poor and the needy full time. I have had both a non profit, and a business for profit, both have helped the poor and the needy. I also visit the sick in hospitals, and I visit people in prisons, I work 6 days a week until 9 pm about 50 hrs a week at least, I also volunteer. I give both my time and money every week. I have given more than $15,000 in the last 12 months to the gospel, to Ukraine, to famines in Africa, to many hurting people around the world. I did not file for divorce even though I was abused, I stayed and loved my husband, I turn the other cheek when people persecute me. I do not retaliate. I love all people, and if I am hated I love back just like Jesus says. I am here to witness as often as I can. So please don't judge people!
