Why are many American Christians so opposed to immigration? That's directly in violation of their religion. [Spirituality & Religion]

The bible contradicts itself in a lot of ways on a lot of subjects, but it is very consistent on the subject of immigration. The bible is extremely pro-immigration. There is an abundance of bible verses about "treating the sojourner as your friend or neighbor" and "inviting them to your feasts."

PAV, it seems to be a popular idea going around that the Bible 'contradicts' itself; but if these so-called 'contradictions' were to be scrutinised closely enough, they'd show the contradiction/s to be in people's understanding of the Bible.

Someone on EP once said there were contradictions in the Bible and so I asked him to show me. When I explained the so-called 'contradictions' to him and how there weren't contradictions, he deleted the post.

Why are American Christians so opposed to immigration? I can imagine that a lot of them think that the liberal left has an agenda to bring in as many immigrants as they can so that they can get more votes to stay in power/gain more power.

@PissAndVinegar Oh btw, firefall blocked me; that's why I can't respond to/see his comments. ;) Typical I think though of the liberal left. They shut down intelligent, rational discussion and are quick to apply one of their '-ist' labels.

@PissAndVinegar PAV, if so, why then can't the left accept that they lost and let the man in the white house (legitimately elected by the people themselves) do his job without all this constant interference and drama? It looks like the US may be on the brink of a civil war over this last election; but when did the right ever behave like this over losing?

@PissAndVinegar I don't think I saw this degree of drama over Obama. :/ Obama drama.

@PissAndVinegar Yeah! Those Tea party people rioting, looting, burning, and beating people with their walkers and canes was a horrible sight to behold!
