Why are many American Christians so opposed to immigration? That's directly in violation of their religion. [Spirituality & Religion]

The bible contradicts itself in a lot of ways on a lot of subjects, but it is very consistent on the subject of immigration. The bible is extremely pro-immigration. There is an abundance of bible verses about "treating the sojourner as your friend or neighbor" and "inviting them to your feasts."

American evangelicals are opposed to the bulk of what the bible says Jesus taught, as well. Turn the other cheek, give up your possessions and dedicate yourself to service, love one another ... one reason I call them Christianists, rather than Christians.

I've met some actual Christians in the US, but, not so many (or maybe they feel compelled to keep it quiet, to avoid headbutting with the evangelicals).
