Why is it when someone saids something bad about Islam they are islamophobic but it's okay to bash Christianity [Spirituality & Religion]

In what universe is it okay to bash Christianity?🤔 It's definitely not as seriously taken but still...I see many people that are not okay with it.
SW-User
@SW-User the war and killing started before the following of either religion mindless killing is the human way
SW-User
@SW-User I'm not talking about war and killing in general, I'm talking about what's going on between those two religions.
SW-User
@SW-User what else is going on

Christians are never really oppressed in the western world, that's why it's not taken as seriously. Christianity however is the face of oppression, at least in terms of organised religion. I'm from Ireland and the church have a say in EVERYTHING, but that's finally being challenged now.
Lotuseater · 31-35, F
@SW-User It still seems powerful in the US. The church shouldn't hold power anyway because not everyone is Christian or religious. Separation of church and state!
pianoplayingsteve · 31-35, M
@Lotuseater In many islamic countries, christians are undergoing genocide. And in the west, or at least where I live in the UK, you are allowed to criticise christianity, to an extreme extent, until you run out of breath, yet merely suggest that Islam is even simply as bad as the other religions, then you may even face legal consequences.
SW-User
@Lotuseater the church has a political voice which is okay every group should but we don't hold the power

hi Dumbbutfunctional
“ Christophobia” is hatred of Christianity but this is not secularism which is the belief that religion should not play a role in government, education, or other public parts of society. So neither is it Islamophobia to say Islamic government is wrong as theologians do not make the best Politicians. So your thesis is incorrect. As always in matters theological you have to expect a certain amount of over reaction if you are critical.

hi pianoplayingsteve
If I had known you were a Doctor I would have never ventured to argue. See that is a thesis!
Best wishes
:)
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@sogdianrock I've never heard of the word "Christophobia" before, it is not in the dictionary and my spellchecker thinks it's really supposed to be "Christopher". So who coined the term "Christophobia", and when? The term "Islamophobia" is actually quite old now.
sogdianrock · 61-69, M
hi Dumbbutfunctional
I have already had the argument with the good Dr as to if your question was a thesis and I contend that it is a loaded question with a subtext which constitutes the thesis which you now expound. On that basis I consider myself vindicated. A thesis is in the eye of the beholder as much as in the mind of the presenter.
Anyway regarding your thesis: it is Islamaphobic. Mine is not. I rest my case.
Are you aware as a matter of interest that Islam and Christianity and Judaism share the same God?
Best wishes
:)
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
Christians don't think it is OK to bash Christianity. They brand those who do as the Antichrist or Satanist or something like that. They might not have a "phobic" word for it like Islam does, but there's not a great deal of difference, is there?
firefall · 61-69, M
Because most things said 'bad about Islam' are actually 'bad about ppl following Islam', & the person saying them is disgustingly dishonest.
Miragem · 26-30, F
Because hypocrisy.
SW-User
overall its a disrespect to ones beliefs.
SW-User
People are warped.
katielass · F
Its the same insanity that causes the stupid to bash the US for wanting to put America first and never criticizes every other country for putting their citizens first.

America=bad
everyone else=good

They're just stupid. Don't worry, their defense of islam will come back and bite them. I guarantee it.
pianoplayingsteve · 31-35, M
@katielass DEUS VALT!
SW-User
Islamophobic is not a word. All religion deserves ridicule and derision.
SW-User
@NankerPhelge are you serious even dictionaries are fake now
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@SW-User How are dictionaries fake? I'm not talking about online dictionaries, I am talking about proper dictionaries like the Oxford English Dictionary, in book format. How is that fake?
SW-User
@NankerPhelge phobia....an irrational fear. Any fear about a fanatical religion is not irrational but fully justified. Therefore a bullshit made up word that does nothing but encourage the muzzling of any criticism of said religion.
SW-User
The whole religion thing is ridiculous.
pianoplayingsteve · 31-35, M
Because there is a plan to destroy western civilization, including christianity, and Islam is being used to create a lot of the chaos, so they need to protect it for the time being. Add that to fake millenials itching to look tolerant and edgy defending the most disgusting religion on Earth
SW-User
@SW-User considering they are the only two that concert I don't think they will get along but I don't think they hate each other
SW-User
@pianoplayingsteve yes, some principles in Islam are not acceptable. And so does in Hinduism and Christianity. To tell you the truth I rather not be a Muslim than Christian. But as I have Muslim friends I can tell you that all Muslims are not terrorist.
pianoplayingsteve · 31-35, M
@SW-User We need to get rid of this ridiculous narrative of "but not all Muslims are terrorists". I never said that, nor do the majority of people with issues with Islam think that! No one says "but not all christians violently oppose abortion" because it is obvious. Why does this line keep getting repeated almost religiously? I know individual Muslims that I get on with, individual Muslims that follow the religion to its minimum out of tradition. Religion is separate from the person.
