Is atheism a religion? [Spirituality & Religion]

It seems obvious that it is not. If you think it is, be prepared to defend that assertion馃槈馃憤

Ever been to the atheism subreddit? They sure treat it as a religion.

Well there's that. But i'm not sure which part makes it a system of worship and belief or devotion to a deity...

@MetalGreymon: The point of subreddits is to discuss about stuff. The point of atheism (if I understood it correctly) is to not believe in god. So for the most part they discuss how much they don't believe in god. There are good days, and it's worst at certain times. The top page is mostly just news, which is okay, the new submissions are mostly 12 year olds that think they're cooler than everyone else since they "reject the system". They worship that sub like a god at times.

...yeah...but we're really just pointing out that they are passionate or obnoxious about their belief that there is no god. Doesn't quite make it a religion

@MetalGreymon: Never said it is a religion. They just seem to think it is :)

No doubt. People can get dogmatic about virtually anything
