I think many people in the west feel that they are racist or bigoted for criticizing a religion or culture that's not their own. And they don't wanna be associated in anyway have zero understanding of the Islam and think all Muslims are terrorists. (I think the same thing happens with criticizing Judaism and being associated with "Nazism") I think those people feel the have more grounds to criticize Christianity because almost all of western culture intertwined with it (and still is) and has overall not been massively persecuted here since Roman times (I believe).

Really, the Bible, Qu'ran, and Hadiths clearly state homosexuality is wrong. It's there plain as day. Personally I don't know how you can be gay and still prescribe to any Abrahmic religion. All books have the directness to maximizie homosexuality as a major issue yet both are self-contradictory enough minimize homosexuality to a minor issue. You can justify anything, even two contradictory sides within one book.

"islamic countries" please provide examples of "islamic
countries"
By the way, Russia kills gays and they're not in any way Islamic
randompi · 22-25, F
Such as Saudi Arabia, Syria and Iraq, where they all have to abide by the laws of the Qur'an

@randompi:
Iraq's government does persecute gays. But then again, that is the same government the U.S. supports and placed in power.
Syria: Al Bashar does not execute gays, but ISIS does.
Saudi Arabia: Yeah they'll kill you.

I think both can be considered homophobic. Severity is different, but they both can be homophobic in their own ways
adhane05 · 31-35, M
It is ironic, indeed. However, because they execute homosexuals doesn't actually mean being a homophobe or homophobic. They just hate gays. Being a homophobe would actually mean being afraid of gays, which sounds utterly ridiculous.
adhane05 · 31-35, M
@Firespirit: Not in my world. I won't accept it.
Firespirit · 26-30, M
@adhane05: I stopped caring about what people call me long ago
adhane05 · 31-35, M
@randompi: Pretty sure more people are afraid of women than they are of gays. 😅

You're maybe referring to self criticism about gay bashing: where people from a country speak out against others from the same country. This will create noticeable controversy. America, for example.

not letting gays marry and throwing them off a roof is two different end of a spectrum

@LvChris: that would not be a spectrum then it would be a yes or no question that would be do you support gays or not. And gay people are not perfect they do have there problems
Well, one doesn't exclude the other being homophobic too. Let me know if it's going too fast for you. I can repeat it slowly.

Alright, who's up for a religious argumentative debate?
MikefromEP · 51-55, M
Who was the code breaker in England back in WW2 that was pardoned for his sexual choice?
randompi · 22-25, F
Alan Turing? That was back in the 30's/40's, luckily things have long since changed since then in England, society has become more accepting of others
MikefromEP · 51-55, M
@randompi: Brilliant mind that killed himself sadly
It's generalizations. Extremists get more media attention than normal people

@LvChris: I think what he is getting at the people who call out Christianity yet ignore what happens under Islamic rule
