I wonder if christians realize what happens when you die. [Spirituality & Religion]

I know for a lot of christians the idea is that you shuffle off this mortal coil and start partying hard in HEAVAAAAN!馃槑
I think that's what most people think when they think about it at all.
But what is the biblical support for that idea? As far as i know, when you die you go to sleep. And you stay asleep until christ returns. And THEN you gut up into heaven.

That's what absent from the body and present with the lord means.

There is no more purgatory.
Now if you're talking about that last from revelations when all the old saints are raised up, then I'd like to know too.

Well it's not just the saints. It's everybody who is dead.
There is no one in heaven. Well, there are a few exceptions but generally no humans

@MetalGreymon: which goes back to "to be absent from the body is to be present with the lord". That's pretty straight forward.

I won't pretend like I've memorized every translation ever, so what I know is what I'm sharing. I encourage you to talk to a local pastor for more in depth answers.

Dang, it's almost as if the bible is a tad contradictory lol

@MetalGreymon: I won't lie, there are many head scratchers. Which is why I study so that I may later understand.

Besides, it may be an issue of context or misquoting.

@TinyGiant:

You'll have to talk to the 7th day Adventists about that.
Whatever you want to say about that denomination, they have their bible down cold. They're very keen on an accurate representation of what the bible actually says.

For the most part
