I wonder if christians realize what happens when you die. [Spirituality & Religion]

I know for a lot of christians the idea is that you shuffle off this mortal coil and start partying hard in HEAVAAAAN!😎
I think that's what most people think when they think about it at all.
But what is the biblical support for that idea? As far as i know, when you die you go to sleep. And you stay asleep until christ returns. And THEN you gut up into heaven.

Hell happens. You burn in an everlasting fire. Not sure you body will last forever though

@Urchoice:

Actually i think the scripture indicates that you still go to sleep. And when jesus returns, the righteous enter heaven and the wicked burn to ash and are gone.

@MetalGreymon: Which verses say that the wicked burn to ash?
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@JP1119:

" You shall trample the wicked,
For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet
On the day that I do this,”
Says the Lord of hosts."

Malachi 4:3

Can ash burn? No. It is burnt and can no longer burn.
And as you saw from the other quotes, the dead know nothing until the second coming

@MetalGreymon: That sounds to me like a metaphor. Not that the wicked will actually be a pile of ashes but that you will overpower them like you would trample on a pile of ashes.

@JP1119:

It seems awfully tricky for people to discern metaphor in the bible.
Nevertheless, the idea that people die and "sleep" until the resurrection is concrete
DiamondInTheMud · 31-35, M
@MetalGreymon: no. It can't be. When you die, the elements of your body disperse into the ground, get absorbed sometimes by plants. Someone else might eat that plant. So what was once in the body a native American can now be in yours. If you died last, the resurrection comes, what body will you or the Native American have, given you were both good people who should be saved?

@Urchoice:

No idea. I guess that'll be up to god to sort out
