Everything was created by conscious or none conscious design. That is the nature of science that in itself is cause and effect.

You were created by your parents it was a biological and chemical reaction. Plants created by other seeding plants. The World as you know it by collision.

So to say we weren't created is a big fuck you to science.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@InternetExplorer:

No. Sorry. But you've made the unfounded assertion that since life reproduces by design then so too did the universe.
I'll grant you that there as a cause and the universe is the effect, but you haven't yet bridged the gap between "the universe has a cause" and "therefor it was designed"

@InternetExplorer: The argument isn't that we weren't created, but that we weren't created by a God who, for no well-explained reason, doesn't like gay people. Or free speech...

I feel like you get my point.

@RoboChloe: God does not hate homosexuals some Christians use the fact that the bible never mentions homosexual relationships as platform to hate.

Maybe read the bible before you bash it.
RoboChloe · 26-30, F
@InternetExplorer: You can find apparent correlations between anything you want with the right obfuscation and filtering. That image proves nothing. In fact, it doesn't even begin to constitute a scientific argument, let alone anything approaching a hypothesis or theory.
InternetExplorer · 26-30, M
Type it in and read about it.
redredred · M
@InternetExplorer: I was not created by my parents. The corrected word you are looking for us "procreated"
InternetExplorer · 26-30, M
Were you not brought into existence by your parents?
RoboChloe · 26-30, F
@InternetExplorer: I did read (Admittedly not the entirety of, but quite a bit of) the Old Testament Bible, as well as the New Testament. Maybe you missed the relevant parts. Here are 2 particularly poignant bits from Leviticus:

You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. (Leviticus 18:22)

If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. (Leviticus 20:13)

The new testament also contains some homophobic gems, but I'll leave you to find those. I don't feel the need to waste any more of my time on proving the most obvious of things.

@InternetExplorer: I have read the bible. It's clear that "god" hates homosexuals. It must be a particularly evil god because it claims to have created them.
redredred · M
@InternetExplorer: no, not precisely. My existence was no more begun by my parent than by the hospitable environment of the earth; oxygen, sufficient heat, liquid water, protective magnetic field etc. my parents produced sperm and egg, they did not create them. To do so would begin with the creation of elements, a universe and eventually a planet in a solar system.
InternetExplorer · 26-30, M
There's more than one version of the bible, it has been written many times so the fact that certain versions are homophobic is not surprising.

Read the Gnostic Bible or St Johns bible. Also in case you hadn't noticed I'm not a Christian.. I just think it's pointless to 'debate' with the intent of scrutinising somebody's core beliefs.

The Bible actually teaches some good values to love fellow man, not to hate as people will pay for their sin. Not to be sinful.. You are nitpicking negative aspects
InternetExplorer · 26-30, M
@redredred: facepalm that was my point.
RoboChloe · 26-30, F
@InternetExplorer: The claim that the Bible "teaches some good values to love fellow man, not to hate as people will pay for their sin. Not to be sinful" is the most epic example of "nitpicking aspects" I think you can possibly have.
redredred · M
@InternetExplorer: then you've done a poor job of making it and still seem unclear on the difference between create and produce.
InternetExplorer · 26-30, M
It is not in fact I bet you typed in 'homophobic bible references' just give your response.. It's petty.
RoboChloe · 26-30, F
@InternetExplorer: No, I copied them from the text file I store them (and some other Bible quotes) in because I have to cite them so often that looking them up so I'm not crucified for being wrong by a word or so each time has just become too damn tiresome.
InternetExplorer · 26-30, M
Smh my latest post has my opinion but I'm fed up now.
RoboChloe · 26-30, F
@InternetExplorer: I'm not attacking religious people. Most religious people are great! (And apparently have a thicker skin that a non-believer when it comes to attacks on the Bible). My problem is with the text, but more so with claims like yours that it's not homophobic. It is, and while most christians just take the whole "love everyone" part to heart and ignore the dodgy morality, the fact that things like this:

And other similar anti-gay messages made their way onto London buses through Anglican Christian group the Core Issues Trust, shows that there is a larger problem with the place where these people get their beliefs.

Also, have you not heard of the Westboro Baptist Church? Not all christians are like that of course, but they got the idea from fucking somewhere didn't they? I wonder where...
InternetExplorer · 26-30, M
Smh. They already carry that value and use the bible as a platform. It's a rare thing too.

Look at the wonders scientific knowledge: my phone, my TV, nuclear bombs, biological warfare, a huge contribution to pollution. Everything has its negatives.

I'm done
RoboChloe · 26-30, F
@InternetExplorer: If they can feasibly use the Bible as a platform, then there must be something about the Bible that makes it feasible as a platform for homophobia.

Those scientific wonders range from thing we could power with green energy but inexplicably don't (Even though we have the resources and technology), and weapons, which are not wonders of scientific knowledge, they're horrors of war.
InternetExplorer · 26-30, M
That's stupid who do you think created nuclear weapons? Scientists. Using what? Scientific research.

Actually no it doesn't make it Christianity's fault. If a pedo uses a nursery for victims does that make it the nursery's fault? Nah.
RoboChloe · 26-30, F
@InternetExplorer: It is Christianity's fault. It isn't the fault of individual Christians, most of them anyway, but it is the fault of religion. People aren't born homophobic. It's taught, and in these cases, it's taught through religion.

As for nuclear weapons, that is a misuse of Science on an unparalleled scale.
