@Georgimy: Just to be clear, he stated that there [i]could [/i]be an intelligent designer of life on Earth (Through the process of seeding single-celled life, and nothing else), but that this designer would also have to have come about through the process of evolution, effectively shifting the question from our origin, to theirs. He did not, under any circumstances, approve of the idea of creation by a God.

Nooo Richard Dawkins couldn't answer that when pressed , came back to the Big Bang and the question then got repeated , who or what created the Big Bang ???

You can believe in intelligent design all you want for all I care, but I won't sit back and let you use such a strong figure in Evolution to justify your beliefs. If you really believe it, you shouldn't need the out-of-context words of a scientist [i]who doesn't agree with you[/i] to prove it.

@RoboChloe: Nicely done and you highlighted a couple of key points. Scientists (and most atheists) don't tend to speak in absolutes. Those who "believe" and have "faith" are more likely to do that. And that one mention of his regarding intelligent design from that documentary a while back resulted in "believers" saying he DID say there was intelligent design. That's how they've presented it to other believers. It's fascinating to me how that happens.

No dawkins does not say there is an intelligent design to life. He says that in a hypothetical scenario where there was an intelligent designer there are ways in which we might observe that to be the case.
