Do you know about Ramzan? [Spirituality & Religion]

It's a month of fast concluded by the festival of Eid. Muslims fast for the entire month, that is, they can't eat anything between 3:30 am to 7:00 pm for a month. They can't even have water and this is what baffles me. In my city which is among the most humid in the word and temperature hits 40 C more often than not, I don't know how they do this. Living a couple hours without water is literally impossible for me 馃槓

I hate fasts. They aren't necessary, and it's a way religious organizations strive for control over people. I'd say it's an immoral practice.

@Peekaboo: Me too. I believe religious practices should be based on rational thinking too. Can you imagine not having water throughout the day for a whole month, in the scorching heat of 40 degrees? Where's the rationality in that! Isn't this torture in the name of belief :|

@beingawesome: We endured similar constraints in Catholicism. When to eat, what you can eat, when you can mate, how you must mate, etc.. I'd think a true religion wouldn't so concerned with interrupting basic bodily urges.

@Peekaboo: No religion is true religion then lol.

@Peekaboo: Atheism is the only one.

@beingawesome: It's messed up.

I know. I wonder why smart folks studying with me and decently educated fail to see through it. Islam is a strict religion to be honest. It's nowhere as accepting as Hinduism (don't know much about christianity) :|

@beingawesome: I think the stricter a religion is the more certain we can be that it's false.

I find atheistic Hindus and Christians? But how rare is atheistic Muslim! Brainwashed folks, aren't they?

@beingawesome: There is always the element of consent.
