If it wasn't for Jesus dying on the cross, we would not have the opportunity to live eternally in heaven when we die. Or would we like the alternative? We should be grateful for that.

1 Peter 5:8 - "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."

That doesn't sound like the devil is anyone's friend, to me.

do I want to live eternally under authoritarian conditions? no I don't. there is something wrong with christian teachings, when it doesn't fit in human psychology
@Klesingo: Except psychology isn't Christian teachings. That's what men taught.

@GraceFromEP: Jesus was a rebel. it was Paul who taught to obey the Roman Empire
@Klesingo: Yes....that's why he cried out to his Father , when he was dying on the cross, to forgive his enemies, for they know not what they do.

@GraceFromEP: to be honest, I regret that Jesus didn't die with a last loud shout for freedom like William Wallace did. if you forgive your enemies they do win not just physically but also psychologically and leave you as a helpless sheep. doesn't work in this way
@Klesingo: Please don't underestimate the Lord. That would be true, of any other man, but not in this case. He could have called 10,000 angels to his rescue. With the power he used to raise from the dead then resurrect into the heavens, he could have easily refused and had victory over his cross. He could have refused the plan his Heavenly Father drawed up to save a dying, lost world, but not one...even his Father...made him. He volunteered, because of His great love for us.

@GraceFromEP: It was necessary for Jesus to die in this way to be a sacrifice for the sins of mankind. that does not mean we should all try to do the same. one sacrifice was enough to reconnect mankind and God. now we are no more slaves but children of God and should therefore no more act like slaves.
That's a beautiful thought you just wrote. Thank you. You're right. We are not slaves. We are free in Christ. We worship and do things not because we have to, but because we want to. It is not work or slavery. It is freedom in Christ, as he set the captive free from their sins. When Jesus sets us free, we are free, indeed. John 8:36
Jesus gave his best for me. I cannot give him less. I am very grateful. @Klesingo:

@GraceFromEP: I am grateful but not in this way sorry. I am not Christian to be nothing but a good obedient citizen. I don't forgive enemies because I don't want and because I don't think it's reasonable while the elite can stay always in power.

@GraceFromEP: "Except they aren't Christian teachings. They're what Jesus taught."

??? So...Jesus Christ's teachings aren't Christian?
You know what? I can understand and appreciate that. Here's how I am able to do that. You have no idea how some people have crushed me in my life. With God's help, I've been able to forgive, as I look at them through God's eyes, not mine. In that way, I am able to forgive and move on. I feel keeping that hurt in, still gives them power over me, thus still victimizing me. But through the love of Jesus, that makes it possible for me. Otherwise I could not do this by my own power. Jesus makes that possible for me because of his love for me that I feel inside. I know that may sound crazy, but it is the truth. Each of our paths and experiences are different, so maybe that's why we can't understand each other, but I want you to know I really do respect and even enjoy hearing what you have to say about things, too. I just have never felt anything but free in Christ.
@Klesingo:
@Xuan12: You're twisting things around. Nonsense.
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
@GraceFromEP: No, I really have no idea what you meant by that.
✌️@Xuan12:

@GraceFromEP: And now you can't explain it, so you make a gesture and bow out.
@Xuan12: Oh please. I didn't know what you meant. Now that I can SEE better this morning, I reread it and know what you meant. I made a mistake in my sentence to her, that's all. It should have read, "@Klesingo: Except psychology isn't Christian teachings. That's what men taught."
