Yes, that White heather brings good luck. I was raised and still told it is bad luck to put shoes on the table or cross knives. If your ears are burning, left is for love, right for spite. Oh and itchy hands, left for relieving right for receiving. I also have a pot elephant that always faces an opening like a door or window, it bothers me if I don't.

@beaisforbliss: We have quite a few, my gran used to always put vapor rub on my tongue for a sort throat- it actually works. If I had an itch we either spit on it or use vinegar. Someone mentioned "touch wood" if there is no wood we tap our heads.
