Why doesn't God just forgive everyone? [Spirituality & Religion]
Saving everyone would entail forgiving everyone. But not everyone is truly sorry for their sins. Some people show no remorse for their sins or even acknowledge that they have sinned against others and God. How can God forgive the unrepentant? Forgiveness and repentance go hand-in-hand.
God is good, beautiful, and full of compassion (Psalm 136:1). Forgiveness through Jesus Christ is for all (John 3:16; 2 Peter 3:9), but not all of us have it. Some of us continue to arrogantly resist God because we think we know better than God. Like Satan, we desire to be God (see Isaiah 14:12–15; Matthew 4).
But some say that in the end, even if people experience hell, they’ll have a chance to escape hell. Furthermore, they claim God’s love is irresistible and unconditional, so the unrepentant in this life will have a chance to repent, even after death. Nothing in scripture confirms this. In fact, it states just the opposite, that our sins forever separate us from God. It will be too late to have a change of heart, after you die. Further, scripture does not confirm reincarnation.
In spite of what God has done for us, we reject him. We live without regard for his statutes, commandments, precepts, and laws. We want him to stay out of our affairs so that we can do what we want to do. We're lawless, and rebellious. Violence, abortion and other murders, suicide, despair, loneliness, drunkenness, etc. are not God's fault. They are the fruits of doing things our own way--man's way--and disregarding God's word. Don't blame God for the evil that men do. Put the blame where it belongs--on man.
James 1:13-17 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. That is, spiritual death.
Would you be there for someone if they only called on you when they need something, then ignored you the rest of the time? I'd say that's a little unbalanced. He's not to be treated as a gift horse.
God provided the opportunity to sin, but He did not create nor instigate sin. Having the opportunity was good; without it, human beings would be little more than robots. God encourages us to follow Him (Exodus 19:5; Deuteronomy 12:28; 1 Samuel 15:22). He promises blessings, fellowship, and protection when we do (Jeremiah 7:23; Psalm 115:11; Luke 11:28). However, when we chose sin, we also choose the consequences that go with it. (Genesis 3:16–24). Remember, it is our own choosing. God did not twist your arm.
God is not willing that any perish. He is not against people. He is against sin, because it separates us from God. Heaven wouldn't be heaven, if sin was there. When we acknowledge that and ask for forgiveness, he forgives, and that brings us back into fellowship with God, giving us eternal life in heaven.
You'll serve your own God, you say? The only trouble with that is, all the other gods cannot hear, see, nor speak. They are idols. Jesus is the only one of those gods to offer salvation, and died for our sins, so we could have eternal life in heaven. We should be eternally grateful. Otherwise, we'd all go to hell when we die. Something to think about.
