@Sarahpatterson99: And what "positive change" are you advocating? That we all pretend there is no radical Islamic terror issue?
Sarahpatterson99 · 26-30, F
@katielass: are you talking to me?
Sarahpatterson99 · 26-30, F
Just for clarification the hijab is the part that covers the hair and neck not necessarily the face

@Sarahpatterson99: It already has been banned in some countries. France comes to mind.
Sarahpatterson99 · 26-30, F
@katielass: I did see that.and France is a country that has a horrible equality record when dealing with muslims
I never heard this.
@lacsar: No, never wore one lol.

@lacsar: I'm not sure what your point is.. I simply said I haven't heard about this ban, yet.

Most countries have laws against things covering ones face for crime reasons I think.
ReaperofTime · 46-50, M
@Sarahpatterson99: Same as enforcing it it should be strictly OPTIONAL
firefall · 61-69, M
@Sarahpatterson99: I agree that banning it is oppressive, but it DOES have other grounds as well, not least the very large number of women who are coerced by their male family into wearing a hijab despite their own preferences (not saying there aren't plenty who wear it from desire as well). On balance it's still a crappy and oppressive thing to do, in my judgement, but I can see some grounds for the opposing point of view.
Sarahpatterson99 · 26-30, F
@firefall: I agree with you on that. The hijab should not be banned but there should be safeguards in place to stop them from having to wear it. What those are I don't know

@lacsar: okay I see your point of view but on the basis of equality if people are practicing faith but not disrupting anybody else then they should be allowed to keep their faith

SW-User
While I agree that religion should be removed from the planet.
I don't think banning things are legitimate options.
