"He never turns anyone away" Except for LGBT people apparently...
Hardly. He loves all and died for all. All, means all. It is people who categorize sin. God does not. To Him, sin is sin...period. And we ALL have it, and it separates us from God. That's why we must ask for forgiveness and repent of them, so God can forgive us and bring us back into fellowship with Him, and we can have eternal life in heaven. But when you repent, that means your sorry for your sins, and if you truly are, you won't want to repeat them, but will turn away from your old life of sin, and walk in the newness of your life in Christ. Many don't wish to do that, so they never accept Jesus as their Savior.

One thing I've never understood is how Jesus "died for our sins." How did Jesus dying do anything? Why did he need to die? Surely God could've went about whatever he was trying to achieve differently seeing as he is all-powerful?
@SeasonalSerenity: Well, that calls for quite an indepth answer, but I'll try to cut it short, although it doesn't do it near the justice it deserves.
God the Father cannot even look on sin, he is so holy. If he did, there would be sin in heaven, and heaven wouldn't even be heaven if sin was in it. So since he could not look upon man's sin, Jesus, his Son, volunteered to come to earth through Mary, who gave birth to him, as the Savior of this world. Jesus became the only mediator between God and man. That is, being perfect and without sin, he was the only one worthy enough to pay for our sins by his blood on the cross. Without the shedding of blood, there is NO remission of sins, so that's why he died and shed his blood, for payment of our sins. In other words, he took our sin punishment of death, FOR us. WE couldn't pay for our own sins because it took a pure and sinless sacrifice, and that was only Jesus. So when we come to Jesus and repent of our sins and ask him to come into our heart and life, turning away from our old sinful lifestyle, he then goes to the His Father on our behalf, and tells the Father that we have repented of our sins, asked to be forgiven, and want to now live in obedience to God, then God the Father pronounces you "Not Guilty!" and forgives you all your sins and remembers them no more. As a gift for your commitment to him, you receive the gift of eternal life in heaven, as a new child of God. All of heaven and the angels rejoice when you do this.
