Why is it that you can be critical of christianity until your dying breath, but [Spirituality & Religion]

Give the same criticism of Islam and you're bombarded by atheists who haven't bothered to read the Qur'an yelling "but christianity! Every part of the bible supports the KKK and they all want to kill gays!".

All religions are based on antiquated myths. Stick to Darwinism.

I agree, so why is it that it's perfectly acceptable to criticize christianity, yet as soon as you even mention islam it's "racist! christians did the same!" Every time you hear about a nasty criminal, you're free to comment on how they are a bad person, no one cries "but lots of other criminals do it!" And no one cries "But muslims are bad too!" when a christian is pulled up.

@pianoplayingsteve: It may be that Islam has become more than a religion; it is also a way of life and has been politicised as well. It creates strict rules for its followers in its own countries and also expects non-Muslims to observe them too. Not satisfied with that it encourages its followers to go to other countries and create there, centres of Muslim life whilst discouraging other religions from become established in its own countries.

@UDontKnowMe: Exactly.

No one is a "Darwinist".

@GoldenWorm: Darwinism is a theory of biological evolution developed by Charles Darwin and others, stating that all species of organisms have developed from other species, primarily through natural selection. Also called Darwinian theory. Thus, those who believe that are called Darwinists.

If you want to take this further from a point of view of human evolution and subsequent spread of populations, please read - The British: A Genetic Journey. Moffat, Alistair ISBN 9781780270753.

Since the retreat of the glaciers at the end of the last ice age, Britain has been repopulated entirely by immigrants. The stories of the earliest settlers were lost in millennia of prehistory, but geneticists are now able to uncover these ancient ancestors' geographical origins by analysing modern Britons' DNA. With genetic insights complementing archaeological evidence, this book forms a new people's history of the British which tracks the epic journeys of the pioneering migrants.

For those who live in the Americas this will also show their origins if they were originally of British (or even European) stock.

@UDontKnowMe: Only creationists use the "Darwinist" label. Everyone else just uses educated or evolution or similar.
UDontKnowMe · 80-89, M
@GoldenWorm: "Everyone else"? Big claim.

Darwin was nearly 200 years ago. He was pre-car, pre-train and we have learned a ton since then.
UDontKnowMe · 80-89, M
But research since then has confirmed that science has a better answer than the religious groups.

@UDontKnowMe: I'd agree, just don't call it Darwinism
