What do you think of the saying god is love?

Well I think that love is one of the highest manifestations of god. The spirit of god resides in all of creation. I know there is a lot of badness in the world but there is also a lot of goodness to counteract it. I look around and think just looking at nature and creation in front of us how can I not believe in divine power? Granted I believe in all sorts of mythological creatures and my beliefs are mixed: monotheism with polytheism and animism and pantheism. My faith has been shaken a lot because of all the negative things I and my family have been through. I see a lot of corruption and desolation in the world. It’s hard to believe in a divine source of creation when your prayers often go unanswered and you see people enslaved and in debt to the current system and others who are suffering from lacking the means to thrive within economically trying times.i wish there were no such thing as the haves and have nots. As human beings we are supposed to be equal in worth. I realize love takes many forms and this cutthroat society is not the way people were meant to live. Sometimes I have to ask myself does god truly love his/her/their children? God in its purest form is not supposed to be about judgment and supremacy but a vision of love and hope. I feel very conflicted about belief. I am not an atheist because I believe in something greater out there than just human beings. Love is what manifests all that is light and good. I just feel a little philosophical right now….
