Heaven and Hell: A History of the afterlife.

This is a book by Bart D Erhman.

The book is worth reading, if only for the quotations of historical literature, from the first five centuries before and after the birth of Christ.

Erhman is quite selective in what he writes, so take his views with a pinch of salt. Not a Christian writer.

His personal ending is moving though, and gives food for thought.

There will be no afterlife but we live on in the Iives that we have touched.

Heaven and Hell are a state of mind, you choose which one you want to live in by your thoughts.

@QuietReverie ‘The mind is it’s own place and in itself, can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.’

Alas, Erhman does not consider John Milton.

Nor psychological tools of positivity.
