As you get older, you realize you have no clue when you’re going to die.

There might be medical diagnoses that will give you hints, but you really don’t know.

You should speak with each person as if they’ll be the last one you talk to. Maybe they’ll come forward to speak to your family to give them some comfort.

Years ago a person from my church witnessed an incident in which they were the first person to make it to the victim. First aid was provided and they spoke and when the ambulance arrived the victim asked this person to ride to the hospital with them. The victim passed away on the ride. Words were left for the family. Those words were not disclosed to anyone but the family. It provided comfort.

Obviously not every last interaction will be this dramatic. Most last words aren’t relayed. Some are. Some are beautiful. I won’t share those events that I was a part of, maybe as time goes by.
