Why Americans (ok, some) think Catholics aren't Christians? [Spirituality & Religion]

They're the very pillar of Christianity.

I can share my experience. I was raised in a very devout Catholic family(I am non-religious). The elders always refer to themselves as CATHOLICS,not Christians. If any family member is not baptized or married in the Catholic Church, is not "really" married. If you belong to a Christian Church, then you are not a follower of the "true" religion. I think that way of thinking is common amongst congregates馃槚

Oh, I see. From my experience being Catholic is like being a New-Yorker, you're still American(=Christian)
