Yes because it takes faith to believe God's nonexistence if there is no evidence of such. Also atheism acts like a religion. They even have their own mega churches now. Only difference between atheists and Religious people is that they worship themselves. In their eyes they are gods.

It doesn't take faith to believe that god doesn't exist.
The claim that god exists provides unconvincing evidence. In light of that unconvincing evidence, atheists conclude that god does not exist.
There's nothing faith-based about it.

I keep hearing this. But only from religious people. I've never met or heard of an atheist that worshiped themselves or thought of themselves as gods

absence of evidence is not evidence of absence
Firechidist · 26-30, F
It takes faith because you believe it without evidence. It wouldn't be faith if you could prove it. And you say there is lack of evidence of God but God never claimed to be physical but a Spirit. So unless you can measure spirits with scientific instruments you have no basis to claim that the belief in the non existence of God is based on observable evidence and not faith.

@painpuppy:

sure, but absence of evidence IS a good reason not believe that which the evidence fails to support

@UnparalleledMonster: Everybody has a god whether or not it is the God of the Bible. You see it in a thread in all human beings that we all worship and no its not just about singing. Some of us worship the arts. Some of us worship our cars. Some of us worship sex and money but it doesn't matter what clothing your Idol is wearing the disease is the heart. You may laugh at people in the past who worshiped graven images on gold but we do the same thing it just looks a little bit different to that.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@Firechidist:

You keep saying it's a belief without evidence.
This is incorrect.
As i said, it's a belief derived from finding the evidence given for god's existence to be unconvincing.
If the evidence is to lead us to the hypothesis that god DOES exist then the necessary null hypothesis is that god does NOT exist.
If the evidence fails to materialize in favor of the hypothesis then we have failed to reject the null hypothesis. You follow?

And in fact god DOES show himself in physical form Exodus 33:23
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@Firechidist:

Not at all the same thing as worshiping a divine being.

People don't worship their cars or money. They may love them, maybe more than they should but they don't pray to them or ask them for gifts. They don't seek guidance and they don't exult them as being more than themselves.
Muthafukajones · 46-50, M
That is the stupidest thing I have every read. It defies explanation or rebuttal. I hope that you seriously consider deleting something so obtuse.
Firechidist · 26-30, F
@UnparalleledMonster: You see but even if the evidence for God is insufficient the truth of the reality of God is independent of whether there is physical evidence for Him or not. So if God exists - and He does- lack of scientific evidence at the moment won't change that because it is the reality.

Science has only been around for several decades and it has barely scratched the surface of the nature of the universe. But somehow you can determine the nature of God? How can you do that scientifically if God is a Spirit and not bound by the physical world? This tells me your disbelief in God is not scientific in nature.

Because according to the Bible. It is impossible to please God without faith. God showed Himself to Moses willingly because one Moses asked and two Moses already had faith in God. The Bible said He is the only prophet who spoke to God face to face.

Be honest. Your 'lack of belief in God' is not based on science. It's based on your hatred of the God of the Bible and your experiences in life. If it were based on science you would offer proof by now.
even if the evidence for God is insufficient the truth of the reality of God is independent of whether there is physical evidence for Him or not
True. Also irrelevant. Because the evidence is at this time insufficient to convince atheists that god exists.
Still not a faith based belief or a religion.
This tells me your disbelief in God is not scientific in nature.
Of course it isn't. Science is not a tool that deals with the supernatural. My disbelief in god is based on how unconvincing i find the evidences provided for god.

Hahahaha! Oh thank you. That was good.
But no. I don't hate god (any more than i hate santa clause) and i'm quite happy with my life, thank you very much.
It was a good gambit to attempt but a bit wide of the mark this time😉
Firechidist · 26-30, F
@UnparalleledMonster: If God doesn't exist and you do not hate the God of the Bible. Why waste your time talking about him at all?
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@Firechidist:

Because i enjoy finding out why other people believe different things than me and i enjoy debating those beliefs.
It's fun🙂
Firechidist · 26-30, F
Well do you want to know the truth?
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@Firechidist:

Of course
Firechidist · 26-30, F
What would you consider sufficient evidence for the existence of God?
Firechidist · 26-30, F
@Motherfuckerjones: I wonder who you are talking to?
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@Firechidist:

If he made himself known to me. If he spoke to me. Gave me signs or miracles like he did for so many in the bible.

If there was anything that showed prayer to be effective for anything at all.
