You don't have to clean up, to come to Jesus. Come to Jesus, and get cleaned up by the Holy Spirit which indwells you.

Jesus didn’t say, “I’ll save you, if you promise to stop sinning and be a good person.” In fact, He said quite the opposite, in John 6:37 & 40, “Whoever comes to me, I will never drive away...For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him, shall have eternal life...”

We put far too much pressure on ourselves. Jesus doesn't want us to beat ourselves up. A man doesn’t have to cure his alcoholism before he comes to Christ. When Jesus saved the adulterous woman from being stoned, he didn’t pull her aside and say, “Hey, I can save your life right now, but I need to know for sure that you are never going to sin again.” He didn’t require anything from her at all. He saved her life first, he refused to condemn her, then he told her to “go and sin no more.”

Jesus takes us exactly as we are, but just like the woman caught in adultery, he expects us to “go and sin no more.” When we invite Jesus into our hearts and lives to be our Savior, the Holy Spirit transforms our life, and now we have a desire to be more Christlike.

My heart breaks for the people who believe that they aren’t “good enough” for Jesus. That's a devil's lie. You never have to win God's favor. He already loves you. He's not happy when we sin, however, he loves us as a person and promises to never turn anyone away, who wants him to be their Savior.

We shouldn’t assume that an alcoholic, adulterer, or anyone living in a sinful lifestyle, cannot be saved unless they first stop committing that particular sin. There is no biblical basis for assuming that you have to change any aspect of who you are, before you are accepted by Christ. There is nothing that says you have to stop sinning or even clean your life up, before you can be accepted by Christ. That would defeat the entire purpose of his death and resurrection. Jesus came to save sinners. He loves us just as we are, right at this very moment.

“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Luke 5:31-32

We need Jesus because we are sinners. That isn’t confined to the small “easy to fix” sins. That applies to ALL sins. Jesus loves you exactly as you are. Jesus loves us. Knowing we are sinners, Jesus died for us anyway.

We are broken; we are sinful. Jesus comes in and changes that. If we had the capability to change it and save ourselves, then we wouldn’t have needed Him. He wouldn’t have had to die on the cross. None of that would have been necessary if we could “fix” ourselves. We, who are sinful, cannot rescue ourselves from our own sins. It takes the One who has the power to erase all our sins and make us whole again...Jesus.

The thing that is so wonderful about Jesus, is that he transforms our heart and life. He gives us a brand new life and a brand new start. It’s a change that cannot be described in words, it can only be experienced upon accepting Jesus as our Savior.

You don’t have to change for Jesus. He is the one who changes you.

"There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. And I trust Christ, my Righteousness and my Pardon. My sins are covered. My sins can no longer bring condemnation to me. In Jesus, I have passed from death to life (John 5:24).”
