Romans 5:6-11 - Since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath, through him.
If the tribulation period is not "the wrath TO COME", described in the bible, I sure don't know what is. In the Hebrew Bible, the meaning of the phrase refers to temporal events such as the invasion of a foreign army, the capture of a city and the suffering that befalls the inhabitants, and that's exactly what will happen in the future according to Bible prophecy.
Paul's followers asked: "When is this going to happen"? And Paul answers in 1 Thessalonians 5, that "the Lord shall come as a thief in the night."
No thief sends you a letter to tell you they're coming at 2 o'clock the next morning. A thief comes unexpectedly. So shall the Lord come in the rapture, unexpectedly, but with the rapture, comes the seven year tribulation period, immediately following.
The tribulation is a time and opportunity for those who were left behind after the rapture, to repent, as God is not willing that any should perish. However it won't be an easy time, by any means. It will literally be hell on Earth, and since people cursed God, mocked, laughed, and hated him, at his attempt to save them, they will have to go through this terrible time. I doubt they'll be laughing. They'll be calling on the God they said they didn't leave in, to rescue them.
It is a time of judgment and there's no reason for the saved to go through the tribulation period...no reason at all, because their sins have been repented of, forgiven, forgotten, and paid for by Jesus' blood on the cross. They won't and don't, have to repent for them twice.. their sins can no longer condemn them, which is another reason for the rapture, because God promised to save them from the wrath to come. He always keeps his promises. The Bible says believers will be raptured out of this world before the tribulation begins. He also promises that those who have been raptured, will come back with him to fight in the Battle of Armageddon...
Revelation 16:12-16 in the Bible describes the Battle of Armageddon, where Jesus Christ and His redeemed return to Earth and nations gather to fight against the Antichrist and his army.
It is God's hope and prayer that none miss the rapture. He said now is the day of salvation and not to put that off because we never know if we'll have a chance to make that decision another day.
