Reincarnation

"There is no end. For the soul there is never birth nor death. Nor, having once been, does it ever cease to be. It is unborn, eternal, ever-existing, undying and primeval..."
- the Bhagavad Gita

Now explain death.

For if there is no end nor beginning everyone can remember everything.

There is a beginning and an end because of that remembrance.

Not even the best Buddhist can remember everything. Everything from ALL their past lives.

It's that demarcation that birth begins. It's that demarcation that reality becomes real.
@DeWayfarer remembrance in it's literal sense is a function of the brain, not of the soul.
Or spirit or essence or whatever word you wish to choose to describe what we are as opposed to our physical shells.
So it would kind of make sense we don't carry the memories from form to form.

Some people seem to carry the ghost of memories. Something that seems to linger.
Years ago I was on a trip to Scotland and was visiting a particular place and found myself sitting beside a small river in a meadow. I had this profound sense of comfort, it's very difficult to put in words but it's that feeling you get when you go back to where you grew up.
I'm not saying i know I was there in another life, but it's one of those moments when you wonder about reincarnation. A ghost of a memory.

@robingoodfellow remembrance is reality. Remembrance involves change. Life is change. Change is reality. The soul can not change without remembrance.

Your in between states you CAN not change! Because it is not reality!

Your little bits of the past ARE NOT THE WHOLE PAST for millions of years.

It's just a little speck in a immensely bigger picture.

The soul only matters in reality!

Problem with the religious Hindu priests is they don't want to live. They spend their life not living and therefore not changing. That's why they spend so much time in mediation.

Nirvana is not the goal! It's the opposite... The goal is Reality.

The soul only matters in reality. Hence the importance of remembering.

That saying is promoting not living! Do nothing!

The soul doesn't matter though without reality. It's just a container from one reality to a later more recent reality.

The goal is to change the soul (the container) by living. Each life the container gets a little bit bigger. Therefore it progresses.
