The insistence of hate

It seems that certain Christians will insist that they are "hated".

I think this is possibly to do with the 8th Beatitude as recorded in St Matthew's gospel:-

"Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven"

Therefore to feel "hated" will increase a certain sense of "justification" - it is so (the hatred of me) because I am of the righteous, a true believer.

Just saying.

Looking back through history, many people of diverse faiths, have suffered persecution. Often, sadly, at the hands of ardent Christians.

Where is a true "righteousness"?

I'm not sure there's too many major religions that don't have persecution at the core. That's what drives 'us vs. them' and coalesces people who tend to let fear drive their train.
