The Lie: Christianity Is A Religion - The Truth: Christianity Is A Relationship

27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. James 1:27

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:1-5

10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:10-13

23 Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples, 2 saying: “The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3 Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do. 4 For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. Mathew 23:1-4

13 “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. Mathew 23:13

23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. 24 Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel! Mathew 23:23 & 24

27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. 28 Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
Mathew 23:27 &28

As you can see, man made religion is good for nothing and only does more harm than good to people. A relationship with God through Jesus Christ by His Holy Spirit will do more good than all the man made religions put together.

@LadyGrace Take a look at Titus 3:9.

@LadyGrace Anyone who thinks Christianity isn't a religion is an idiot. It's not a matter of opinion.

@Human1000 All is forgiven, Willie :-) Thank you! Moreover, I do apologise for being so angry at you for calling me silly

@val70 I don't claim to be a Christian, but it's funny your bigotry is so extreme you can't be bothered to have your religion sullied with that word because it applies to 10,000 other metaphysical belief systems that humans follow. You're just like everyone else, sister.

Your ignorance is impressive, though. Christianity is a religion that didn't even begin with Jesus. Jesus was a Jew. Christianity was made-up by Paul, for the most part, and other followers of who after Jesus' crucifixion proclaimed he had risen from the dead. It was Paul who decided to preach to gentiles, and in a brilliant stroke of marketing said they did not need to convert to Judaism.

Religion is the belief in and worship of a superhuman power or powers, especially a God or gods. Your brand of Christianity is Protestant in nature as it eschews formalized worship via a Church. Still a religion, hun.

@Human1000
Anyone who thinks Christianity isn't a religion is an idiot. It's not a matter of opinion.
You've said it but you have not understood it. I'll put it this way, Christianity is not a man made religion and, no, Paul didn't start it either. The believers were first called Christians in Antioch and not as a compliment. Jesus Christ didn't come into this world to start a religion but to save mankind through death and resurrection. This is what Paul has been preaching throughout the surrounding regions of Israel.

@GodSpeed63 Now you're interchanging terms. First it isn't a religion; then it's not a "man made" religion. Then it wasn't "started" as a religion. You STILL haven't answered my question below, and now you're using petty techniques you're taught not to use in introductory debate classes.
Human1000 · 51-55, M
@GodSpeed63 I have no quarrel with theists, and have no interest arguing with "faith" because faith is impervious to logic or empiricism. I do have an issue with bigots and absurd notions about Christianity not being a religion because it's not "man made." You also proclaimed those who say Christianity is a religion are lying. This is a new level of stupidity I didn't think possible.

As for Paul verses other early Christians, I said Paul, for the most part. I don't think without his marketing genius Christianity would have gotten very far.

I also think you are a zealot who would probably kill children if you thought Jesus wanted you to do so.
@GodSpeed63 Right on, brother. So true.

That's funny. Just the other day I saw a post where you claimed to be a Christian, and even commented that your profile name reflects just the opposite. However, I'm glad you cleared that part up, given the opposite is quite obvious, the way you speak and interact with people.

Your lack of knowledge about the Bible and Christianity is astonishing, yet you continue to babble on, as if you've read it and understand parts of it. And I see I mistakenly gave you the benefit of doubt, though you're known for operating as an immature troll, and I've always asked that people be civil, if they're going to address me. Obviously, you don't know how to carry on a discussion in an amicable manner. Perhaps you'll learn in the future that trolling is futile and deserves no attention, but to be blocked.

Your boring brand of uneducated sarcasm is typical, given the source. I'll leave you to your delusions, and though you insist, Christianity is still not a religion.

@ArcAngel Here, see if this one fits.

Luke 18:9-13

9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’

@originnone
I don't look down on everyone else:
Isa 14:12-19
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lu'-ci-fer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down
to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exhalt my throne above the
stars of YHWH: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the
north:
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Yet thou shall be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
They that shall see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, is this the man
that made the earth to tremble, that did shake the kingdoms;
That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the
house of his prisoners?
All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, everyone in his own house.
But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that
are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase
trodden under feet.

@ArcAngel You should have someone you trust look at how you talk to people here. You are condescending beyond belief. That's why people like me have such contempt for you. It's not you religion, or your beliefs, or your relationship with christ. It's your high and might pedestal that you put yourself on with every word you utter. Stop quoting verses for a half dozen posts and talk to someone like Leopold. It's not all about quoting verses. As you've seen I can do it too and I'm as faithless as them come.
ArcAngel · 61-69, M
@originnone
I quote scripture because it keeps me pure; as he says
be thou holy. All I am simply doing is guiding souls to
the Higher Light of YHWH.
You have to break through the cubic functions of the mind;
which keeps you locked into intellectual arguments, ego
self defence systems ( I'm right and you are wrong ), the
philosophies of man, black and white dualistic thinking,
and keeps you locked into three-dimensional reality.
By opening your heart and mind like an innocent child,
you can then tune into the Divine Mind, and have ever
higher and higher experiences of Light essence.

Love, Light and Peace,
Scott

@ArcAngel Then quote it. But talk sometimes. Talk about your doubts...how you worked thought them....the things you're considering within your faith. These people will listen to you when you quit. But except for your last post, it's just a bunch of verses. I can buy a concordance....
