Love is the Winner

love wins as the world spins

the world is more than just the planet we live on

the world is anyone and everyone who lives in it

we are the world, we are it’s essence

but are we are not all haters and disrupters, killers and rapers

though it seems that this world is more dark than light
and glancing at the headlines, world and local news that might seem right
but let me tell you we can be more than just urban blight

the darkness corrupts and lies, offers fake smiles and laughs as we cry
for he cares not of our pain, loss and strife

what changes the world do you ask
it’s a simple thing and it’s up to the task
the thing I speak is a little thing called love
love your neighbor as you love yourself

and raging darkness can change into the brilliance of light
frowns can become smiles
helping hands form a chain
to rescue the drowning man before it’s too late

love, it’s simple thing
one person to one person, one person at a time
and you’ll see it’s true
there’s still hope in this world though some say no
I for one know that the hope I speak of is real
