I don't feel I have enough reason to. I further think that the origin of that belief is driven by the widely held cyclical world view most civilizations have. In fact, the West is one of the few that hasn't had it, ever since the Enlightenment

@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP I find your last line interesting. Islam has no concept of reincarnation as well. But Judaism has (gilgul). So it's not exactly a western phenomenon

@HakunaMatata that last line wasn't specifically about reincarnation. About half way through I digressed into talking about most civilizations view the world as cyclical and not a matter of infinite progression
