Do you have questions about evolution? [Spirituality & Religion]

I find that even in this day and age many people still have a very flawed understanding of evolution and this can lead them to reject it outright.
So if you have any questions about evolution theory i would be happy to answer to the best of my ability

How did something come from nothing for no reason?

God obviously

Simple. We don;t know. But we're talking about evolution, as in the theory that describes the diversity of life in its present form, not the ultimate origins of the universe.

The changes were random mutations. If it was an added benefit to survival, that particular animal had a higher chance of producing more offspring (white fur in a region of snow). If it made them less likely to survive, they didn't stick around for very long. This has been happening for millions of years, which can be difficult to comprehend. It's a big number.

@UnparalleledMonster: No you are assuming a purely materialistic explanation is acceptable and therefore I am asking how something came from nothing for no reason.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@hippyjoe1955:

Well again, evolution theory does not seek to explain ultimate origins.
But if we're talking about why something came from nothing for no reason what about god?
I assume the answer is "well he always existed outside he laws of the universe" which is of course no answer at all but simply a response of "because".
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
Oh but it does you just don't want to face the failures in your pet theory. How does something come from nothing for no reason.
johnny253 · 80-89, M
@ClassySOB: You're talking about "adaptation".That's survival of the fittest.The creature still is the same creature.
ClassySOB · 36-40, M
@johnny253: Indeed, but throughout the course of millions of years, the creature changes significantly.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@hippyjoe1955:

How does something come from nothing for no reason.

How indeed? Where did god come from?
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
Shit the bed on that one Joe
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@hippyjoe1955: Still waiting on that answer joe...
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
You first. I never claimed any expertise I just asked how something came from nothing for no reason.
johnny253 · 80-89, M
@UnparalleledMonster: God is a spirit that lays beyond the physical World. I believe also, that we are Spirits also, in Physical bodies that existed before we were born and will exist afterward also.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
Where'd you get that idea John?
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@hippyjoe1955:

You'll note i already answered you, joe. I said we don't know. Which i a perfectly acceptable answer in the scientific community. Don't pretend to know when you do not.

So now it's your turn. How did something come from nothing for no reason?
ClassySOB · 36-40, M
@johnny253: I've had paranormal experiences in the past. I'm not convinced the spirits of the dead are among us. I often wonder about a parallel universe that we occasionally "cross paths" with. It's just a thought.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
OK so then evolution doesn't work if it can't get started.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@johnny253:

So basically your answer to that question is "because". A super being that has always existed outside of physics decided to create the universe and made humans his special favorites.

And you also believe that spirits are a thing. A thing separate from the physical structures of our brains that are shown to be responsible for so much of our behavior and perception.

Essentially, you believe without any concrete reason to do so, yes?
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@hippyjoe1955:

I'm curious. Aside from the fact that you don;t know how it started, what is there about evolution that you take issue with?
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
What I am saying is simply this. If you can't get the thing to start it doesn't keep running. You can draw any conclusion you want from my question since my question is simply a question. How does something come from nothing for no reason?

@UnparalleledMonster: I think I have answered your question multiple times. If it can't get started it doesn't exist. Intellectual honesty demands it.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MalteseFalconPunch: Where did those compounds come from?

@MalteseFalconPunch: Was there ever a beginning?
