No...I wear them as part of my coat of many colours.

@OogieBoogie I like that....we are who we are from our past experiences
OogieBoogie · F
@Coisty pretty much .
Guilt is just as much a part of my makeup as innocence .

@OogieBoogie i really get that. It also can't define us
OogieBoogie · F
@Coisty guilt is important...it stops us making the same mistakes.
As painful as it is , its no one else's job to fix my fuckups, but me .
I wallow in both my achievements and failures.
Its part of being human.

@OogieBoogie it is. We can't let the guilt become the over riding part tho
OogieBoogie · F
@Coisty well, it depends on what you did wrong doesn't it .
I believe A murderer should feel the extreme pain and loss he's caused ....intermittently for the rest of their life. You can't make up for such a mistake.
But it's all relative
Guilt is a psychological reaction to doing something wrong.
The only way to fix it is to be driven by it to do the right thing.
I still have guilt of things that happened 40 years ago....but it stops me from committing the same mistake.
Guilt only festers when you do nothing to compensate or alleviate or make up for the mistake you made .
I believe its healthy.
One who has no guilt is in denial.

@OogieBoogie yeah I suppose. But if I'm being honest I have did the things I feel guilty about all over again lol
OogieBoogie · F
@Coisty oh hey ...I get them all the time.
But guilt hurts less when you have learnt to become better .
When you have made peace , or at least tried to...with those you have wronged.
Don't get me wrong, there are still a few things I never managed to fix...and they still haunt me .
But like I said, all for good reason .
We need to remember our mistakes.
And no...I don't absolve myself...only others can do that with forgiveness

@OogieBoogie surely we need to be able to forgive ourselves tho? Or what's the point??
OogieBoogie · F
@Coisty I don't understand.
If you forgive yourself , you lessen , or even forget the guilt.
Guilt isn't a bad thing....it reminds you you have a conscience .
And that's a good thing.
It why I don't forget mine .
Accepting guilt is just as important as accepting your accomplishments.
It makes a strong foundation of truth.

@OogieBoogie you can forgive yourself for doing the thing but the guilt doesn't lessen
OogieBoogie · F
@Coisty hmm.mm...I need to think on those words ....I feel I need to wrap my mind around it to understand better.
Lemme get back to you...its Friday night, drinks night ...and its late ...so I'm crashing
I'll reply when I've thunk about it 😊👍

@OogieBoogie no problem 🍻
OogieBoogie · F
@Coisty hmmmm....this still has me stumped.
And actually contemplating it just gives me a tight feeling in my chest.
Either I don't understand what you mean correctly...or I can't seem to consolidate the two .
I've thought back to try and apply this to different events in my life - only to discover that even the few things I managed to fix...I still feel guilt about .
I wish I could understand what you mean ...but I can't wrap my head around it .
