I am thankful that I KNOW that I have the right to exercise my own spirituality and religion as I see fit and not as anyone would dictate to me. I am thankful for the wisdom from the Divine Essence (God, Ya Bahaullabha, Hashem, Allah) presented in many Holy Writings (especially Baha'i writings and prayers) I am thankful to live in a country that does not demand that I follow "their god" or express my spirituality in ways that are not mine. I am thankful for FREE SPEECH. I have the right to say so, whatever it is. I am thankful that everyone is NOT like me, I love diversity. I learn from others. I am thankful for health and provision for this physical life; roof over my head, etc. I am thankful for my family and friends. Those who know me best, whom I love the most. I am thankful for the capacity to THINK for myself...and show others that it is OKAY. I am thankful that NO MATTER WHAT happens in this world, I have the right to respond according to my conscious and heart and I DO NOT HAVE TO live my life according to anyone else's agenda.

Once I realized the importance of this simple truth, even at my age, I decided to stop complaining about the things I didn't like about who I am. Instead, I started to change the things I could and accept the things I could not change. As a result of that, I was more able to appreciate myself and my unique God-given gifts and talents. The more I did this, the more I noticed and received the appreciation and love I got from others.[/b]
