Does Atheism get weaker at this time of year? [Spirituality & Religion]

Hello Atheists

Right now in the UK, even tho there's the Corona virus, the sun has came out and so everyone is happy and people are sitting in the park and smiling. So does this mean Atheism is more powerful in the winter?

If there’s a link to atheism here then I don’t understand it 🤔

@adorbz I mean people are happier when the sun comes out so do people tend to be less Atheisty?

@IndigoSavage either you have absolutely no idea what atheism means or you’re just trying to provoke people 🤔 the only thing I can think of that would mean less atheists in spring is all the children having easter stuff shoved down their throats in school

The opposite is more likely to be true. When people are happy they feel less need to attempt to fill voids in their lives with mythical beings like "god".

It's amusing that Easter is named after the Pagan goddess of Spring, Eostre (various spellings). The festival was hijacked by early christians in the same way as they hijacked Yule/Winter Solstice/Saturnalia. At least most people still celebrate the festivals in a way that reflects their origins.

@Sharon yeah 👀 But tbfh you aren’t gonna convince anyone by pointing this stuff out any more than she’s gonna convince anyone by saying spring makes us thankful for god’s creations or whatever she was trying to say. Christians will just get angry at you or ignore you

I wouldn't be so sure. Several people have said that they didn't know that before I mentioned it. Admittedly, not many were christians. I might not convert anyone but I might help save them from being deceived by proseletyzing christians.

Good. The former would suggest my efforts are meeting with some success.
@adorbz I used to believe in God when I was a child and thought that Christmas and Easter were Christian festivals. As you said, I had that stuff rammed down my throat at school. I learned the truth about them when I grew up and stopped believing all that Christian nonsense.
