Do you know that many Bible scholars believe that the 7 year" Great Tribulation" might start this year 2021, and the rapture could happen any time? [Spirituality & Religion]

@Carazaa Rapture is based on premillennial dispensation which is mainly limited to Evangelicals and is a relatively recent belief from the 19th century. It’s only supported by a few Bible verses, mainly Paul in 1 Thessalonians where he talks about people bring “snatched up.”

@Lila15 Yes, I agree! I have no idea when we will be raptured I am just saying Jesus is coming very soon. And many believe in pre trib rapture. But even if there is post, or mid, we have to be prepared.

There are different rapture timing doctrines.. The one most promoted is that pre-tribulation escapist one.. But the one i find to be in alignment with scripture will happen on the day of the second coming of the LORD Jesus.. Which happens at the very end of the tribulation..

Your belief that rapture is only a recent belief is wrong.. early in the church times there was a teaching called Chiliasm based on the belief of a 1000 year reign of Jesus.. But once the catholic church gained power in the roman empire they suppressed this teaching because they wanted the people to believe that the catholic church was the fulfillment of the prophecy of the 1000 year rule of the Saints on earth.. They had to suppress and discredit the Chiliasm belief to legitimize their co- rule of the known world through the roman empire of the lands under the control of the roman empire as the church of state..

But as we know the protestant rebellion against the authority of the catholic church allowed people to read the Bible and once again discover what it contained.. One of those things being the rapture..

@Adstar Yes, of course it’s all anti-Catholic. Keep n mind that if the Catholic Church hadn’t preserved Christianity through the Middle Ages, we’d probably all be Muslims today.

@Lila15 Yes the catholic church served a purpose but not for the good of the administration or parishioners of the catholic religion.. If i would use an analogy.. Joseph Stalin was an evil psychopathic ruler who brutally killed millions of the people of the USSR... But he served a purpose in stopping Adolph Hitlers plans to conquer and exterminate the Slavic people to make room for the expansion of the ""arian race"" he wanted to ""perfect"" ..

Now does that mean we should celebrate and be supporters of Stalin and stalinists.. Nope we should be anti- Stalinist's and much as we are anti - Nazi .. So God can cause an evil force to attack and destroy another evil force to preserve the Word of God in His little minority community within an evil empire..

@Adstar I wouldn’t compare the Catholic Church to Stalin unless your OK with atheists comparing Protestantism to Hitler. The Protestant reformation arguably made atheism possible by opening the door to questioning of religion in general and the separation of church and state.

@Adstar I have never proclaimed that I pretend to believe when the rapture will happen. Rapture means snatched up and we WILL be snatched up. I am not here to debate this just to mention that many like Derek Walker who has done nothing but studied Bible time line his whole life and is a Math MS graduate from Oxford believes in pre rapture and that we will all see Jesus very soon. I would be pretty foolish to proclaim I know better. I don't!

@Lila15 The protestant movement made scandinavian Governments more Biblical and Christian and still are! There was Bible devotion for every scandinavian child for the last 500 years in public schools.

@Lila15 Churches can be more Biblical, or less Biblical. No church is perfect! I am saved but have never come across a church that I agree with on all their points! I am quite critical and want a very Biblical church. Scandinavia changed from Catholic to protestant when the Catholic church became apostate praying to saints, the virgin Mary, and popes "forgiving" sins.

And Atheism has always been possible since year Dot.. Protestantism was a movement created in an effort to reform the catholic church.. The efforts where resisted by the catholic church and so the protestants broke away to follow the Christian religion as they deemed fit.. Protestantism never promoted atheism..

To hate catholism is not to hate Catholics..
To Hate islam is not to hate Muslims..
To hate Hinduism is not to hate Hindus..

It is easy to project personal hatred for people on a person who is opposed to the religion they are part of..

At this very moment i am sitting down eating my lunch and my dad is in the same room getting his food.. I have a very peaceful relationship with my dad.. My dad is a catholic.. I do not hate my dad.. Or my catholic mother who died a year ago..

And as for Derek Walker with his university accreditation it means nothing when it comes to the Word of God how intelligent one is.. Wisdom of God can come out of the mouths of babes when the Holy Spirit causes it to happen.. And the most learned and intellectual people can end up with a mountain of foolishness..
