The Delusion of Atheism [Spirituality & Religion]

The main delusion of atheism is that its followers believe that it exists.

They are deluded into believing that no gods exist, yet they have their own gods that they worship and put their faith in.

They can't understand that there is only one true God, Yahweh, who has revealed Himself to mankind through His Spirit and through His Word, yet they try their darnedest to discredit Him and His Word instead of taking time to understand Him and His Word.

They keep claiming they have evidence for their type of science that evolution happened instead of God, Yahweh, creating the heavens and the earth but fail to produce evidence so far. They, however, have shown evidence that intelligent design happened instead but still claim it's evolution.

They mock, ridicule, and insult hoping that these actions will set them above those who believe, on the contrary, the opposite happens and their mocking, ridiculing, and insults fall back on them. Plus, these actions prove that they have no such evidence to support their claims in that evolution happened or that God, Yahweh, doesn't live.

I prefer the book "The God Delusion". I think it makes a lot more logical sense instead of just believing in things on the basis of faith.

@JimboSaturn I do too. It makes a lot more sense than the "wholly babble"
@JimboSaturn Just a religion of a different type and I am suspicious of a book where the title literally starts with an unscientific armchair diagnosis doesn't instill confident.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow It's not a religion of a different type at all. It is about believing in facts and the natural causes of things. It debunks the irrational need for a god.
@JimboSaturn Yeah, no. It is about trying to convert people using assumptions and extrapolations way beyond what is supported by science or facts. Again, just a religious crusade with god removed. It is no accident nearly all these people are disillusioned evangelicals.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Dawkins is not a disillusioned evangelical at all; he is a scientist. There are no extrapolations and things not supported by facts. Have you read the book?
@JimboSaturn Actually he was a disillusioned Anglican so close enough. And he was (past tense). Lol the title itself is junk airchair diagnosis and he works backed from a flawed position.

The man gave up science to pursue an anti theist mission (and I use that in the Christian meaning of the word). It was about conversion not science.

Someone claiming they can prove god exists is a liar. A man who claims they can prove god doesn't exist is also a liar.

At least agnostics are intellectually honest.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow He did not give up science and an child brought up in the Anglican faith is nowhere near an evangelical. He does not claim god does not exists, he says their is not proof of god and he is an 99% agnostic about it.

I ask again, did you read the book?
@JimboSaturn And now we are moving the goalposts. Whether he became disillusioned as a teen or an adult is irrelevant.

The title literally diagnoses anyone who believes in the possibility of a God mentally ill. And he has said on numerous occasions he basically considered anyone who was not anti theist as basically stupid or crazy.

I DNF'ed it. It reeks of the crusade that is the very problem of the "new atheist" movement he kicked off.

If you want to be called a scientist, do science not missions of conversion.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow There is no goal post moving, he wasn't an evangelical. The title doesn't diagnose everyone who believes in god as mentally ill, it contends that the belief in god is a delusion. I have watched him often he has never said that people who are not anti-theist are stupid or crazy. I fact he says he has many theist scientist friends who are intelligent.

Why is just stating his view a crusade. Funny how you accuse him of crusading yet this post is a crusade. And anyway, we have had to listen and suffer religious crusades for 4,000 years.
@JimboSaturn I said most are. The fact he was a different denomination is not really all that big difference. The end result is the same.
The title doesn't diagnose everyone who believes in god as mentally ill, it contends that the belief in god is a delusion.
That is the definition of a distinction without a difference.

And you are really going with the atheist version of the "black friend" defense?

And now a strawman. I said it is a religious mission of conversion of a different stripe. Big difference.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow There is a distinction in what I said you just have to have the mental agility to grasp it.

Again did you read the book?
@JimboSaturn Yeah, it means believing in god is a sign of mental illness, but I am not saying anyone who believes in god is mentally ill which is a self contradicting statement.

I DNF'ed it. Meaning I read but did not finish it.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Of course you didn't.
@JimboSaturn I have better things to do with my time then stroke someone's ego.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow
about conversion not science
Conversion to what?
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow
agnostics are intellectually honest
So I assume you have no problem with me as an agnostic atheist.

1. there's no proof that gods exist (or we would all be theists)
2. there's no proof that gods don't exist (they might be lurking around a mountaintop somewhere)
3. in any event, there’s no compelling necessity to postulate gods, and the postulation explains nothing (not even itself)... it merely tries to explain everything away.
4. therefore, I have no gods... I’m an agnostic atheist.
