Jesus is coming back, and he tells us to be clear about what WON'T get us to heaven. He sets the standard...not us. [Spirituality & Religion]

Jesus said people never have to work or earn their way into heaven, by doing good. There are a lot of good people in this world, however, they are not yet spiritually fit for heaven. They think they are, because of good works they have done, or because they themselves are "good", but Jesus said, "No... that's not the way. My love for you is not based on good works that you do for me."

That is confirmed in scripture. It is not up to us to twist its meaning to our satisfaction:

Good works definitely have a place in scripture, but God's Word makes it extremely clear that they only count after one has accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior. That way....no one can boast, they achieved salvation on their own. That is impossible, as we cannot forgive, nor wash away our own sins. Only Jesus can do that. You've only to ask. He turns no one away.

Some here are teaching "another gospel" from what Christ gave us. Even using other scripture, in attempt to verify their claim that good works gets one to heaven. They are false teachers, of which God's Word warns about.

Recognize that good works could never be pleasing to God, before one is saved, since that person is not even a member of God's family, OR in a relationship with God, until they willingly come to Jesus, invite Him into their heart and life as their personal Savior, and have Him forgive them of their sins, which then brings them into right standing and a relationship with God their Father, along with the promise of eternal life in heaven. Will you believe God, or man? I'll take the sure thing...not risk my soul on what man says, any time. If anyone tells you differently from what God's Word says, they're lying!

ONE CANNOT EARN THEIR WAY TO HEAVEN BY DOING GOOD DEEDS!

@Laughman No need to worry. We don't need nor believe in "luck". We've got Jesus...a sure promise. God is incapable of lying. He is perfect. But if people want to chance their future on man-made philosophies, they can certainly do that. But they won't like the end results. Man will never be smarter nor wiser than God.
