The Skeptics Claim, "“There is No Evidence for God’s Existence” [Spirituality & Religion]

Skeptics, do not bring up any 'gods' you claim not to believe in. It is in your best interest that I'm telling you not to bring up those 'gods.'

What is "God"?

Don't you know?

What Yahweh says in His Word about Himself.
walabby · 61-69, M
@GodSpeed63 But His Word was written by people that didn't always agree with each other. It's a very confusing book unless one cherrypicks the bits that one agrees with and ignores the difficult parts.

Explain.
walabby · 61-69, M
@GodSpeed63 Different accounts of Creation week in Genesis, different genealogies for Jesus in the NT, different accounts of Jesus' last words, different times of Jesus' ascension... etc, etc...

Give me examples, please.

@GodSpeed63 I just did.

@walabby
I just did.
Let me put this way: can you elaborate on those examples, a more detailed description of them?
walabby · 61-69, M
@GodSpeed63 1,
Matthew 1:16 says that Joseph's father was Jacob.
Luke 3:23 says that Joseph's father was Eli.

2,
Matthew 2:13 says that Joseph, Mary and Jesus fled to Egypt to get away from King Herod the Great.
Luke 2:22 has Jesus being presented to the temple in Jerusalem because he is the first born son, as per the Law.

3,
Mark 14:12 has the first day of the festival of unleavened bread, (Passover) on the Thursday, the Passover meal being that night with Jesus being arrested after the meal and crucified the next day.

John 18:28 has Jesus before Pilate late Thursday night, and makes it clear that the Passover meal has not been eaten yet. John 19:14 says that it was on the day of preparation for the Passover that Jesus was crucified, i.e. Friday... The next day began at sundown, so Passover was Friday night.

4,
Matthew 27:44 has both of the robbers mocking Jesus, as does Mark 15:32.
Luke 23:39-43 says that only one robber mocked Jesus and the other one rebuked the first robber and asked Jesus to remember him when he came in to his kingdom...

5,
Take your pick....

Matthew 27:46
Around the ninth hour, Jesus shouted in a loud voice, saying "Eli Eli lama sabachthani?" which is, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
John 19:30
Jesus said, "It is finished"
Luke 23:46
And speaking in a loud voice, Jesus said, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit".
6,
Judas Iscariot's death?
In Matthew 27:5 Judas hangs himself.
In Acts 1:18 he bursts open and his insides spill out.
7,
According to Luke 24:51, Jesus' ascension took place in Bethany, on the same day as his resurrection.
According to Acts 1:9-12, Jesus' ascension took place at Mount Olivet, forty days after his resurrection.

.... and you could probably just read Genesis yourself...

@walabby
Matthew 1:16 says that Joseph's father was Jacob.
Luke 3:23 says that Joseph's father was Eli.
Matthew taught the lineage of Jesus from the side of Joseph being a descendant of Jacob. Joseph's father was in fact Heli as is told in Luke.
2, Matthew 2:13 says that Joseph, Mary and Jesus fled to Egypt to get away from King Herod the Great. Luke 2:22 has Jesus being presented to the temple in Jerusalem because he is the first born son, as per the Law.
So?
3, Mark 14:12 has the first day of the festival of unleavened bread, (Passover) on the Thursday, the Passover meal being that night with Jesus being arrested after the meal and crucified the next day.
So? John went into more detail on how Jesus was crucified.
Matthew 27:46 Around the ninth hour, Jesus shouted in a loud voice, saying "Eli Eli lama sabachthani?" which is, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
John 19:30 Jesus said, "It is finished" Luke 23:46 And speaking in a loud voice, Jesus said, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit".
So? Jesus said all those things as He was dying on the cross.
6, Judas Iscariot's death? In Matthew 27:5 Judas hangs himself. In Acts 1:18 he bursts open and his insides spill out.
So? In case you hadn't noticed, ropes do break.
7,
According to Luke 24:51, Jesus' ascension took place in Bethany, on the same day as his resurrection. According to Acts 1:9-12, Jesus' ascension took place at Mount Olivet, forty days after his resurrection.
If you'd done research, Mt. Olivet is in the region of Bethany.
.... and you could probably just read Genesis yourself...
I've read Genesis, there are no contradictions.

Any questions?

@GodSpeed63 Matthew said that Joseph's father was Jacob.

Matthew 1:16
New International Version

16 and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, and Mary was the mother of Jesus who is called the Messiah.

Luke said Joseph's father was Heli..
Luke 3:23
New International Version

23 Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry. He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph,
the son of Heli,

I think that's pretty plain.

My Olivet may well be in the region of Bethany, but the 39 day difference on when it happened is harder to ignore...

You guys have had 2000 years practice in making excuses.. I'm done here.

@walabby
ou guys have had 2000 years practice in making excuses.. I'm done here.
I gave you those answers already. Why do you need to hear them again? Do you want to become a son of God?
