You can’t hurt Jesus. He’s dead.

@LeopoldBloom Christians don't believe He's dead.
@Butterflykisses24 I'm aware of that. I'm just expressing my own opinion.

My understanding of the theory is that if Jesus' agony on the cross atoned for the sins of all men, when someone becomes a Christian, the punishment for their own sins is retroactively applied to Jesus, and his suffering is augmented. So if a Christian sins after their conversion, that is applied to Jesus too. But when an unbeliever like me sins, that has no effect since I haven't accepted Jesus' sacrifice.

TL;DR only Christians can hurt Jesus.

@LeopoldBloom not how it works at all.He bore the sins past present and future the day of his cruisifixion.Its not ongoing physical pain.
@Butterflykisses24 I've heard it explained that way. Of course, there are other theories. But if the pain he experienced during his crucifixion atoned for all possible sins, past, present, and future, then someone sinning now doesn't add to Jesus' suffering. So you can't "hurt" him any more than he already has been.

@LeopoldBloom I agree with that you can't hurt him physically but emotionally suppose
@Butterflykisses24 That would mean his suffering continues, which implies that the suffering on the cross was insufficient.

@LeopoldBloom I really don't feel like getting involved in a debate over this friend.
