The bible speaks of incorruptible things, the corruptible vessels and corrupt stories and people. For a believer the bible is the inerrant word of god, which has definite things to say about how one lives their lives, from that mindset it is seen as timeless and applicable even today, and a vast network exists of all sorts of ways to interpret it all. Hermeneutics. Liberal theology looks past the bible's restrictive viewpoint, and so on.

My opinion doesn't matter, but it goes something like this - if it were to be true and what it purports to be, all the more reason then for it to be other than how things are, the way we know things now. It is my opinion that the essence of the divine is not isolated to just the bible, which can be used in divisive and harmful ways. That is a current subjective viewpoint in contra towards it.
