How can we be certain that there is any form of existence after death? [Spirituality & Religion]

Try as I may to keep my mind open to core spiritual ideas, I can't help but think most of the time that nothing happens after we die.

I would like for there to be some sort of nice afterlife, but I cannot shake the feeling or rather understanding that we are just animals who will decay and return to dust.

Energy cannot be destroyed.

@Peaceful That doesn't mean it will be re-rendered in a configuration that will magically retain your formerly physical consciousness when you pass on.

@GeistInTheMachine never said that. But you did say it ends. Energy transitions, it does not end.

@Peaceful Not saying you said that. But that's the topic I'm posing at hand: Evidence for life after death. The ultimate survival of consciousness.

The way I see it, I feel I was nothing before I was born, so why should it be any different after I die?

@GeistInTheMachine I would encourage you to read NDE's...especially the more analytical people. That should help I think in your quest.

@Peaceful Yeah, that's a good suggestion. I know that there was one story in particular that stuck out to me about a man who was struck by lightning and had his brain rewired, it seemed. He could suddenly play paino very well.

I am going to delve more into metaphysics.

Thanks for reminding me about NDE's.

@GeistInTheMachine you're very welcome. Also look up the Harvard doctor that didn't believe in God or any afterlife until his NDE. I think he would resonate with you!

@Peaceful Very good recommendation. Do you know his name by any chance?

@GeistInTheMachine Dr Eben Alexander.
