@SW-User Christians believe that Jesus is also God. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God, etc." So God created the universe, then gave birth to himself, and sacrificed himself to himself to atone for the sins that he himself had allowed to take place.

It's similar to how Quran says that Jesus was a Muslim, even though he lived 600 years before Mohammed. Islam is viewed as the "true" religion which Jesus followed, and Mohammed came along later to explain it to the rest of us.

Scientologists go further by claiming that Scientology is billions of years old, even though its founder, L. Ron Hubbard, didn't invent the religion until the 1950s. False claims of age is an appeal to authority and is central to many religions.

I was raised as a christian too, like most British people of my generation. I became an Atheist after discovering "god" was just a mythical being.

I don't believe in religion. Yes I believe in God and the devil but serve one the best I can.
God gave us all a choice.
To each his own.
I luve by LIVE NOT. HATE. know the difference.
