Notice that it doesn’t say you have to be a Christian, or even believe in Jesus at all. It just says Jesus decides.

@LeopoldBloom This is only One verse in the Bible.. The Bible message is contained in the entirety of the Bible and it makes it cear one must believe Jesus and trust in the atonement He secured on the cross..

In order to follow Jesus, you first need to believe that He is the Son of the living God which, in turn, helps you to become the man God created you to be from the very beginning.

@Adstar @GodSpeed63 The Bible is only as authoritative and accurate as the men who wrote it 200+ years ago.

No, you do not have to believe in the Son of God to be a Christian. I like Clapton but I don't think he's God. I like Jesus, but I'm not sure he was God. Muslims agree with his teachings but don't consider him divine. I'm still a Christian in thought and deed.

@Graylight And we believe those men where guided by Gods Holy Spirit in what they wrote.. So their scriptures have the Authority of God to those of us who believe..

Yes you do have to believe that Jesus is the Son of God according to the Holy Bible..

(1 John 2:23) "Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also."

@Adstar Semantics. Belief.

I don't dare suggest what another person should believe. The same courtesy should be extended. All roads tend to lead to the exact same point no matter what, and it's a more colorful world to use as many faces as we can devise.
Adstar · 56-60, M
@Graylight Nope Firm Beliefs ..

You can suggest what others should believe if you want.. If you see a kid about to pick up what you believe is a poisonous Spider and you put forward that stupid idea that it would be a courtesy not to extend your belief that the spider is dangerous to the kid.. Then that would show your absolute lack of care / love for that kid..

But if you believe something and care for the other person you go out and you at lest make an attempt to give warning of what you believe is a real and present danger..

And this is what a Christian believer in the LORD Jesus Christ does.. They give what they believe in the hope of seeing other human beings saved from the great danger that they honestly believe they are facing..

@LeopoldBloom I don't know about Jesus. The only thing that I for sure know is that there IS a creator.
@Adstar It's not like all Christians are in total agreement as to what the Bible says. There must be thousands of different denominations.

It's easy to say "the writers were divinely inspired," but that claim is made about every so-called holy book. I'm going to need better proof than that if I'm going to commit to something that on its face is absurd, illogical, and incoherent. How about a personal miracle from God? It doesn't have to be anything big, just something that can't be explained any other way.

@LeopoldBloom I’m not sure what you are talking about Jesus decides? Ofcourse he decides! He created everything! He is amazing that he is giving us a chance to go to heaven! We do not deserve that! I am thankful and can’t even believe how good he is to me!
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Adstar What a superior, sad, myopic life it must be to allow for only one truth, and a truth you can't prove at that.

@Adstar So true 🙂
Carazaa · F
@GodSpeed63 yes, very true 🙂🙏

@Adstar Jesus doesn't even say that conclusively. Matthew 25 has all parables about entering the Kingdom of Heaven, it talks about people using their gifts for good and building on their gifts. It doesn't mention Baptism of belief in God or Jesus. I am tired of your deceptions. Truth is what sets us free, not half truths to build up church numbers.
Adstar · 56-60, M
@Zeusdelight Say what conclusively ???
Matthew 25 has all parables about entering the Kingdom of Heaven, it talks about people using their gifts for good and building on their gifts.
So? what has this to do with what i have said?? Makes me think your not even replying to me.. Have you quoted the right person??
It doesn't mention Baptism of belief in God or Jesus.
What? What are you even talking about have i mentioned baptisim in this thread?

Deceptions??? well you can judge me as you will to judge but remember there are consequences for bearing false witness against another..
not half truths to build up church numbers
Build up church number?? now what church would that be?? Since i do not belong to any church.. This just shows how lacking your understanding is.. You project clearly false motivations and not the actual truth of the matter because you are not listening your just projecting..
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Adstar Thankyou Mr Psycholgist, how angry you are
Adstar · 56-60, M
@Zeusdelight
hankyou Mr Psycholgist, how angry you are
More projection..

I am slightly frustrated as getting a message that seems to have no relation to me at all.. Usually people respond to something i say and quote me where i said it and then bring forth their reasoning against it.. I can respect that.. But others just put forward vague allegations like I'm angry.. Here is some good advice just deal with what other people actually say.. Let God deal with their motivations He knows them all..
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Adstar Mmm, I'll decide what advice is good for me. You are a very sensitive person aren't you.
Adstar · 56-60, M
@Zeusdelight Yeah i am on the sensitive side.. That's a good thing it moves me to have more compassion for others then cold hearted people who don't care..

It is really simple if you don't want to take my thoughts on board... simple don't.. You can even block me.. You do not have to respond to my thoughts,, How simple is that???

When it comes to God and His will i put my thoughts out there and allow people to make up their own minds.. I am not responsible for making others believe the truth.. The Holy Spirit works upon the consciences of people who hear the Gospel.. The actual human messenger plays a very very minor role in the process.. I am glad i am not weighed down with that responsibility.. 😊
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Adstar Some people here should read that.
