I was brought up with right wing political views. I've since spent a lot of time with the poor and am sufficiently educated to be able to research. I'm not socialist for those who like to put people in boxes rather than listen.
I support politics that has certain values:
* Act on the environment using evidence-based policies. Don't ignore science because party donations from corporate interests are buying what you say and stand for.
* Decent wages. You can't afford to pay properly, your business can't afford to hire.
* Every child deserves an equal opportunity to succeed, access to health care, a decent education. Policies that promote social mobility so that children of poverty can make it.
* Appropriate social support for the down and out. Losing your job shouldn't mean misery and desperation - the shortage of work is partly government economic management.
I don't have party allegiance.
