There's been a huge online presence for wiccans and pagans since the early internet. Your best bet is to find some good online communities which should have all sorts of info for newbies.
Every wiccan I've met has been a pretty inclusive person eager to share their ideas with so if you go to them (rather than hoping they come to you) you should easily find some people to teach you.

I studied it for a bit, and most "wiccans" in high school are equivalent to those "christians" that just like the cross necklaces.

It's probably best you didn't unless you regret missing out on a teen LARP. If you're wanting to get your mage on as an adult in a non-LARPy way, there should be no real [i]need[/i] for the other humans' involvement, although it can be fun if you've got some around anyway.
