Do you feel like religious people are unfairly judged? [Spirituality & Religion]

Many times, people put them all in the same category, based on what they see, hear, or experience. Not all are the same, though. I consider myself religious, but I don't think that I am better than anyone or that I know everything there is to know about the universe and we were created, if you get what I am saying. I hope we can keep this civil 🤷🏻‍♀️.

I think doing the right thing is hard af and the people that are able to do it should be appreciated.

@Lostpoet How is that on topic?
Lostpoet · M
@Dolimyte I think that they are unfairly judged as being prudes but in reality it's hard af to live like that so they should be seen as hard working good peeps.

@Lostpoet it sounds like you are saying that religious people are to be comended for sticking to their principles. Yes?

@Lostpoet I agree, that's commendable to do what you think is right. Why do you think their principles are "right" though?
Lostpoet · M
@Dolimyte I believe in the teachings of Christ; family, refraining from addictive substances, sex should be with in a marriage, honoring the elderly, don't hurt or take advantage of anyone ECT... But in saying that, I do practically none of those things.

@Lostpoet that's just a statement of things you believe and an evaluation of how well you think you messure up to them. It doesn't answer why you believe them.

It sounds like you're saying that you think those are the correct values to hold because you agree with, and hold them yourself, even if you fail to live up to them. Does that sound accurate?

Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@Lostpoet so what makes them good values to hold?
Lostpoet · M
@Dolimyte I think so
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@Lostpoet I know, why?
Lostpoet · M
@Dolimyte That is how I was brought up.
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@Lostpoet you grew up learning to evaluate them as good?
Lostpoet · M
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@Lostpoet is it possible for someone else to have been brought up taught the opposite of something you believe to be true?
Lostpoet · M
@Dolimyte it's possible, and they are called evil people.
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@Lostpoet by you. Would they not call you evil?
Lostpoet · M
@Dolimyte Probably
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@Lostpoet so how do you tell who is correct?
Lostpoet · M
@Dolimyte The holy spirit.
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@Lostpoet would you mind explaining that to me?
Lostpoet · M
@Dolimyte You don't know the Holy ghost? He tells you when you know you are doing wrong.
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@Lostpoet like in an audable voice?
Lostpoet · M
@Dolimyte No, a feeling
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@Lostpoet that's different from your conscience?
