I can understand them being superstitious - although I am not - but it's strange how many fail to spot the paradox in using the Internet to decry the very mathematics necessary for the Internet and so many other things we all tend to take for granted in everyday life.

Why not simply be honest enough to admit simply finding mathematics hard to understand? (As I always did.)

@ArishMell The biggest paradox when it comes to superstition is omitting house number 13 in a street which has 13 lamp-posts. I mean, why? Are they superstitious about 13 or not? This half-superstition drives me bonkers, it's neither one thing nor the other.

@NankerPhelge Mmmm! I've never thought of that.

Perhaps the distance between posts dilutes the bad-luck-ness to insignificance whereas as a house number 13 concentrates it.

I think there about 60 homes in my street, but only 3 lamp-standards, so it's not a problem here.

@ArishMell My street has 64 houses and 6 lamp-posts, so your lamp-posts seem a bit spaced out.
