@NankerPhelge You and I, not speaking American, would call it "maths".... however...
.... Have you noticed how many Britons who otherwise easily enunciate polysyllables like speciality and aluminium; pronounce Mathematics as Math-matics, some solidly, some with a tiny but distinct break at that hyphen?

@ArishMell We do pronounce a short "e" in the middle of "mathematics". I've never heard anybody squeeze it into "mathmatics".
