How to Have Peace In a Turbulent World [Spirituality & Religion]

Philippians 4:7 refers to “the peace of God which transcends all understanding.” Peace is a state of tranquility or quietness of spirit that transcends circumstances. The term peace is described in scripture as a gift from God and is in harmony with His character (1 Thessalonians 5:23; Galatians 6:16; 1 Peter 1:2; Hebrews 13:20).

If God is peace, then to know God is to bask in His peace. The closer we draw to Him, the more of His peace we can enjoy (James 4:8). God gives us clear instructions about how to draw near to Him. So how do we draw near enough to experience His peace? Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives, but as my Spirit gives, do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid” (John 14:27). We come into the presence of the Lord through His Son (John 14:6). When we allow Jesus’ death and resurrection to purchase our forgiveness from God, we are counted as righteous in God's eyes (2 Corinthians 5:21). Our sins are forgiven because Jesus already paid the price for them. Only then can we have peace with God, as His Spirit unites with ours. (Romans 4:5; 5:1; 1 John 4:10).

The initial peace that comes from having our consciences wiped clean, grows as we get to know God better (Hebrews 10:22). Second Peter 1:2 says, “May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord”. When we grow in understanding of the depths and riches of God’s love toward us (Ephesians 3:18–19; Romans 8:38–39), our minds and spirits begin to rest in His power and wisdom.

By reading your bible and praying, you stay connected with his Holy Spirit inside those of you who know Him as your Savior, and can then feel God's spirit and peace once again....your spirit being in fellowship with His. Remember...one week without spiritual food, makes one's own Spirit WEAK.

Stay close to Christ. Read your bible daily and talk to Him each day. The answers are in Him alone. Religion or not, Jesus didn't die for religions. He died for every individual on this earth. That's why it's noted as a personal relationship. Do not stray from him. Stay faithful to God. When you have Him, you have everything you need. We all get flustered at times, in rough times, but then we get back on track, when we're reminded to keep our eyes and focus on Jesus, and not the situation. It's then we find our peace.

@LadyGrace I was in a room with trolls that have no Biblical knowledge whatsoever
If I had said to them, read 1 Corinthians 3 vs 18 it wouldn't be sufficient for them.
We either receive His Peace or refuse. Sadly they chose the latter. Trying to be wise with no biblical knowledge at all is actually very dangerous. Remember the story of the man casting out devils in Jesus' name who knew nothing about the Kingdom and had not received the Holy Spirit. He was ripped to pieces because the spirit knew who Jesus and Paul were, but not the man boasting. He ran away naked and petrified.
Having to listen to the old sacred cows makes me nauseous x

@Wearelivinginamadworld I remember that, yes. We must also remember to see people through the eyes of Jesus. Some simply have no knowledge of spiritual things. Perhaps they never heard those things we speak of, but we still love them. So does Jesus. He loves all. Sometimes when people don't understand something, they can act hateful and curse at us. I've had it happen. It's nothing new. I still love them. Jesus said from the cross, about those who nailed him there, cursed, and spit on him..."Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do!" Sometimes when people are scared, they're insecure. It's really nothing personal towards us. We never know what they've been through. I pray that as followers of Christ, we all show the love they seek, as representatives of Christ, and help them towards the Light of Christ.

I know you'r right, I do love everyone. Because we experience and see His love, we can become quite sensitive and upset. I really did feel awful and I should of just come away from that question it was overwhelming and yes it upset me

We are in a storm at this present time due to the COVID-19, and there is so much fear lurking around us globally. Sadly mostly fed to us via the media. The peace that surpasses all understanding is crucial to us at this time. I hope we can look back at this time and see how it has humbled us. So many have fallen from grace. It really has shaken me up in a healthy manner. I will pray for you today, so please do pray for me also.

@Wearelivinginamadworld I'm so sorry. I just now saw your reply. We are living in difficult times, for sure. I pray everyday for people and countries. You're certainly in my prayers. Though we don't know what tomorrow holds, we know who holds our hand. He will see us through this, together, dear heart. Like Peter in the Bible, try to focus on Jesus, not the storm, and the burden won't feel so heavy. As long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he did not fear. But the moment he took his eyes off Jesus he started sinking in the waves. Know that you can call on me, whenever you need me.

Thank you and God bless you. There are only a very small handful of people here that share our love for God and His Kingdom. Jesus did say when two and three gather in agreement it is done. So we have a good number really when i see it this way
