Most religion developed as result of a serious lack of understanding the elements... bad weather phenom meant "god was angry", ie lightning etc
Most Judeo Christian interpretations developed from a much older Egyptian religion (pretty likely as Israelites spent ALOT of time there). The myths 0 moses, adam and eve, a saviour/ messianic figure , etc... all common to the same religion. That is usually either widely dismissed or widely unknown - but what is more likely?
We learn how to cure disease because of its cause, or believe that you have to sacrifice your baby because you god needs her dead?
